Is there somewhere that sends someone out to your house first to give you advice, then installs it all for not too much money? I have a budget of about 3k for a fairly small bathroom.

Homebase - we got ours from there a year ago and it's gorgeous. It was so inexpensive that we were able to afford an amazing double width whirlpool bath which would have cost far more elsewhere. Not only do they nearly always have an offer on for 25% off or something similar, but if you go on 10% day (Friday and Saturday once a month) you will get a further 10% off that offer.

Seriously, ours looks like a swish hotel bathroom and we are so pleased with it. The guy who fitted it was even taking pics for his portfolio because it looked so good! Our kitchen is also from Homebase and again, we have a lovely open plan one that looks far more expensive than it was thanks to their brilliant quality and deals.

They will do a great plan for you step by step on their computers using such a good programme that looks identical to the finished bathroom. Definitely give it a try for terrific results at affordable prices!

We do that. But $3,000 won't get us to talk to you. A full- gut, complete Bathroom remodel costs around $30,000, depending on the level of trim. My prices are for the greater Boston, MA area. Labor is the big part, usually about 60%. As a licensed, insured contractor, we don't get involved in partial jobs, because there's too great a chance of hidden problems and unhappy clients. Our customers want to be sure that the new Bath will last for years, so we strip to the studs and joists, redo all rough electrical and plumbing, insulate, and do new greenboard and plaster. Some customers get there own fixtures, but most have us do it. Either way, the costs are about the same. Tile on the floor and walls, is typical. Usually we put in a new vent fan and lighting in the ceiling and by the mirror.

We have been looking recently and found this site on the web.

The products and the prices are excellent. If you can find someone local to fit the plumbing for you, it works out much cheaper.

So in addition to the materials,
For the labour we have been quoted:
max £750 for the labour - completed in around 10 days.
min £40 per hour for about 7 days from someone else.

If you got say Dolphin Showers in, they would charge about £3 or £4k for the lot.

My advice is to go to home depot. They have high quality products at RELATIVELY cheap rates.

You can do the installation yourself if you have time. Home Depot offers DIY classes, and they also have the best DIY book. THe staff are real knowledgeable so if you have questions, they can answer
