i need to know the name of the lamp in hockney's
'Still Life on a Glass Table 1971-2'
i saw a photo of it also in another book once, so i know it's a real lamp.
Help!

It will be hardly likely that anyone here could give you the brand name of that style of lamp. But I can tell you that those marble-encased lamps were trendy (much like black lights and lava lamps) during the late 60s and early 70s, in other words during the 'Hippy / Flower Children' era. Just like lava lamps its likely several companies made such lamp fixtures. I remember having a marble lamp that was cylinder shaped.

You might try going to Hockney's web site and asking him personally. Who knows, he might still have the thing around somewhere. Many figurative artists keep stockpiles of props.

I think you mean Larry the Lamp, or Light Lawrence as his partner calls him.
