You and your husband-to-be can go on a vacation together with them.. or there might be something that they really need in their house, look into it and get something to make their lives easier..

I would focus your efforts on something that shows THOUGHT more than anything! After all, they are paying for your wedding because you are their daughter and they love you. If something material were more important to them they could tell you to pay for the wedding and go out and buy it themselves. Maybe there is something special you can do for them.
If you do go with a gift, maybe start putting some money aside each week and then when you have enough do something special like send them on a trip. Something like that.

I think it would be a wonderful gift to host an informal dinner for your parents in honor of their generous contribution to your wedding. Before planning the dinner work on a scrap book that is just for your parents. Featuring you from a small little tike all the way through to adult hood including wedding photos. The scrape book could be titled "Because of You Two". That would be sweet!

Definitely a trip somewhere would be a wonderful gesture.
If you are not financially capable of this and THEY know it... then give them a little card saying they get a baked goodie every month for a year! YOU bake a cake, cookies, cheesecake, WHATEVER! and deliver it to them every month. Reminding them that what they did for you will stay with you forever and your appreciation is deep. This gesture is not expensive, comes from the heart and is something we are ALL capable of. MONEY does not need to be the key factor in any gift ! Live Well ! : )

My daughter and new son in law gave both his parents, her father and myself lovely gifts. Pocket watches for the men and lovely jewelry boxes for the women. It was very sweet of them.
However the gift that I'll carry in my heart forever was she simply said thank you for giving me the most wonderful day of my life.
Mom's and dad's have stuff, way too much stuff. What you mom and dad want is for you to be happy, and for you to be grateful.
Best wishes to you!

maybe you can make them a scrapbook or memory box of special moments with them from your childhood until the present. you can also add in the times you've all spent with your fiancee so that it's a thank you from him as well. maybe you could even wait to give it to them right after the wedding so that you could include momentos from that special day in it. be sure to include special quotes or maybe some meaningful poetry. i think it would mean more to them because it's something from the heart; just as them giving you the wedding you want is straight from their hearts.

Parents do this because they love you, they don't expect anything in return. I gave my parents a photo album with pics of the wedding from beginning to end.

I think the best thing to do is to just tell them, frankly and honestly how very very much you apprecaite them doing this. My mum and dad paid for my wedding and my mum also organised most of it, which really was a blessing! I didn't give any gifts or things, I just made sure my mum new she was greatly appreciated!

As a parent, all I would want was a genuine and sincere thank you from BOTH my child and her spouse. Knowing that I was able to make her day possible would be enough for me. And please don't listen to these clowns. Have a child if and when you two are ready. A child is not a gift of thanks to your parents.

why not make them a personalized scrap book of events leading up to and after the wedding memories are much more cherished than material things
