Why are so many saying lately that illegal immigration is not really a problem but something that has been drudged up recently?
I am in CA and we have been living with the problem (and trying to do something about it) for YEARS. Over 10 years ago, there were propositions on the ballot to try to deal with the problem (the most famous passed in 1994). It is an issue that comes up in every election for the last 15 years at the VERY LEAST.
Now, it may be that it was not a national ISSUE until recently but the problem is not recent at all. Some of us on the border states are THRILLED at the prospect that now the rest of the country might begin to address a major concern we’ve had for years. (and NO, I don’t mean JUST the southern border states. I DO mean ALL border states. The states with sea ports have just as much a problem with illegals from elsewhere as do the states who border a country.)
SO, those of you who are saying it is not a problem and is a recent fabrication, can you please be more specific? It may be you were too ignorant to believe it was a problem, (and may still be), but there is NOTHING NEW about the problems of ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.

ANYONE who disagrees? If you think I will just bash you, you are wrong.
It seems that people won't answer questions they disagree with rather than trying to educate others. If they don't respond becuase they CANNOT answer, then I hope this doesn't come up in any more answers here.

blankit - I do see your point, and I think it can be valid. But the times I've seen the "this is just a fake problem" is done in response to illegal immigration questions, not ones that are blaming illegals for every ill the US has right now.

We in the northern states were not even aware of the problem. Now that it has spread to 20 million and our President refuses to secure the border, we have become more aware. Now we also are dealing with he crime, expense to the tax payers and dealing with the lack of trust in our politicians

You're right, however, I believe there is a reason for their ignorance. The American migrant workers used to do the work that Mexicans do now. Most young people don't know that, and the oldies have forgotton. These were the first people displaced by Mexican migrants and the average person didn't care. Then they weren't happy in the field, and displaced the domestic workers. Again, not the jobs most successful people were doing. They were only replacing low wage domestic and field workers. Then they started displacing minimum wage workers, day laborers, etc. A few people noticed. They were placated by politicians who talk but don't act. Then they decided they were from here because they have Indian and Spanish ancestors, that they have the same rights as citizens, that they don't have to be legal, and they started dominating the higher paying factory jobs. Here, you can't get a job at Gallo or any other factory unless you are Mexican or know someone who already works there. So now people want to know where all these Mexicans (not Mexican Americans) came from!
Follow the money trail and you will find your problem.

It's been a serious problem since at least as far back as the 1950s - but it was SOLVED for a while by President Eisenhower's "Operation VVetback". Eisenhower used Federal agents to round up and deport illegal immigrants. Only about 70,000 of them. Another half million went back to Mexico on their own to avoid being caught. He clamped down on the border too.
Eisenhower used his authority as Chief Executive because Congress was failing in its duties to ensure the borders were secure.
Over time, Socialists in the US have used disarming language and 'social justice' programs to reopen the floodgates. When you attend pro-illegal immigration rallies, you will see them orchestrated by Leftist groups such as ANSWER (a spinoff of the World Workers Party created by the KGB), Revolutionary Communist Party and others.
They now use illegal immigrants as a racist voting block to get Leftists into political office.
We are seeing what Germany did in the late 1930s - the Socialist Workers Party creating a racism-driven voting and activism block to seize political power.
Today, the Aztlan Nation movement mirrors the Aryan Nation movement. 'Por la Raza' means 'For the Race'. At my local rally, the spokesman said that any whites wishing to remain in the new nation of Aztlan and serve their Latino masters could be 'Whitesicans'.
"Illegal Immigration is not a problem" is a snow job - a psychological operation by enemies of the United States engaged in conquest.

When historic recent debate in California has been as much over how much MORE in benefits illegals can get, be it in state tuition, or the tuition FUNDING bill currently on Arnold's desk, and when even this year the question was whether special insurance for medical should cover illegals up to the $47,000 family income level, as it already did, or to some higher ($65,000?) level, and where no one is allowed to ask about immigration status when they come for 'free' education or healthcare, and people are horrified if an officer asks during a police stop, I can see where they can be confused as to how much of a problem we think their being here really is.
Which is why the benefits magnets as well as the employment magnets need to be dismantled, and is why interior enforcement is key.

I think you mentioned a good point. It was a problem in the South. Us Yankee's be ignorant...
I think the ferocity of the campaigns were sudden to the US in general, unless you live in Ca, like you mentioned. What I fail to understand is how it could have become a problem (or so I'm told - seriously) and now some Americans are just expecting to lay all the blame on the illegals and take drastic measures for a problem the whole society helped in creating.

illegal immigration has been a problem for decades, but only in the last 20 or so years has it gotten to be he threat to both our economy and more recently national security.
the illegals cost the taxpayers an estimated 50+ Billion dollars every year. in addition there are some people in dc who want to put them into the Social Security system.
we must seal the borders and deport every illegal we can catch.

All 50 states are going to have to act on this one together, to develop a common standard and consensus, or it'll just be shifting the problem around to the most lenient state in the Union.
If, say, New Mexico(all in favor of a name change say 'aye'), goes soft on immigration enforcement, it will in effect become a 'sanctuary state'. I would say that if you oppose illegal immigration, petition the city of Los Angeles and it's 'mexican mayor' to disenfranchise themselves wholesale from being/becoming a magnet for all of this by virtue of their self-assumed status.
When all 50 states can hang a 'no vacancy for illegal aliens' sign in the window, the sob-stories and illegal migration will stop, not before. I think we should welcome legal aliens, but in limited numbers. There's more to life than 'growth', and surrendering our sovereignty to a massive influx of newcomers probably isn't the smartest play in the book, to my view. We're the United States, not Burger King, so no, they can't have it 'their way'...

It has been a problem...a huge one, but the media has kept it insulated until the decision for illegals to "come out of the closet" came about. Now, it is treated as though illegals are victimized by the "evil, white, American".
It needs to be addressed swiftly, absolutely and finally. We need deportation to begin, the wall to be built, and ongoing detection of illegals in our country....with penalties dispensed to all employers and to all enablers of these criminals.
The cost to California has been crippling...enough is enough.

"The supercomputer called the recommendations is a huge one." it is not evidence for a god by using fact it would desire to be evidence for different issues to boot: -nature (nature does the assembly of the recommendations) -extraterrestrial beings -a magic gadget that designs each and every form of issues "3-dimensional utility it extremely is compressed and zipped up, DNA, would desire to be the main important." DNA isn't utility. there's no longer any processor. DNA is a template for making enzyme, proteins, supplementations, different issues. i will understand why human beings think of of it as utility. it sort of feels to have binary information. actual, it extremely is a quad. yet besides, there's no longer a processor. it extremely is surely achieveable that it arose out of organic techniques, extraterrestrial beings, a magic container. in case you declare that god is the only option, you're fooling your self.

Too many people are ignorant and fall for the propaganda spread by those who are using the illegals as a financial weapon against them. They do need to wake up. A flooded labor market lowers everybody's wages. The law is being broken and treason is being committed to flood the labor market. There is NOTHING noble about sacrificing your children's future to help criminals, invaders and the American criminals who profit from using their cheap labor. It's sick... and I can't believe all the people falling for this crap!!!
