Girls have false modesty, I think.

It's cultural; men in our society accept group nudity; women are taught to be more modest as a rule. As for "false" modesty - ALL modesty is false - how many babies care if they're naked???

Some of these answers above mine are insane.

Boys do like their privacy as well and public nudity is not acceptable by any means more by men than by women.

I don't know why the reason is. Probably because the administration is biased in money spent for guys compared to women. I don't see why one should have private showers and one shouldn't. I don't know of any decent non gay or weird guys that like being naked in front of all the other men.

From the stories my 16 y/o son tells me of the antics in a mens locker room (funny stories...young men are homophobic!!) I do not believe the same of a womens locker room. They like their privacy and rightly so. With society so tuned in on a womans body and how thin or heavy, how much she has on top...it is only right to keep yourself private.

I think it is because its presumed that men are more likely to be sexaully active and you don't want to give them space to hide behind ( and go jerking off in a public shower).
sorry if offensive, but I think this is the unspoken reason

Most societies give more power to men, but acknowledge women to be more precious and worthy of care..

Why is it pornographic for a woman to go completely topless and it's okay for men?
