Rather than getting a "free puppy" go to a rescue shelter instead. They've taken very good care of their animals, they know the animals and have had the shots and other stuff updated. You'll be allowed to adopt for a small fee after you pass an initial interview because they want to make sure the dog/cat's going to a good home. Make sure you have a fence or some sort of shelter for the dog if you're going to be having to leave it at home. My sister got her dog from a rescue shelter and it's the best dog she's ever had.
My dog too was a rescued dog from a very horrible abuser. She's 10 now and has been with me since she was 3 and learned pretty much on her own how to be a hearing ear dog (I'm deaf). I wouldn't trade her for anything! She's a Blue Merle Sheltie

I would say that you maybe ought to get a goldfish. Your puppy should never be left in a situation that can result like that. And irresponsible people are the ones giving away dogs, probably because they never bothered to spay or neuter their pets, or even just keep 'em confined, SOMETHING! You should be willing and able to pay for a dog, if not, what about vet bills, food, license fees, vacinations, accessories, etc? Yep, goldfish are great.

Before deciding to just go get another one....FIX THE PROBLEM.....do not leave your dog unattended outside or let the dog run the neighborhood...please check out this link:

AND REMEMBER PEOPLE DO NOT GIVE YOUR DOGS AWAY FOR FREE....they usually go to a home where their safety is not first. People care for what they have to work and pay for.

Wherever you end up getting a new puppy PLEASE RESCUE!! Go to your local shelter right away & look around...you'll fall in love over & over & your other puppy will send you the perfect pal to love & TAKE EXCELLENT & PROPER CARE OF.
