Well, if you don't want to be any larger than you are now, you still need fuel for the fire, or you will get skinnier, and be even less healthy than you are now. Anyone who can say "I believe food is the enemy" is necessarily unhealthy. Food it not the enemy, although certain food advertisements, and certain food habits certainly can be enemies.

I joined Overeaters Anonymous years ago, and lost a lot of weight. I remember there were also anorexics and bulimics there, which I thought odd at first. But the theme was the same, only what you had done about it changed: everyone there, large or small, felt food was their enemy. Many of us learned that certain flavors, certain patterns of eating, were our enemies.

Sugar was the big downfall for me, with butter a close second. That means baked goods, candy, sugary drinks, all of that. I learned that the only way I could stick to no more than the right number of calories (less than 1,000 if you are working at losing weight and do not exercise very vigorously) was if I accepted that my food would be very boring. I had to give up having meals with other people, because of the tendency to eat more in a social setting.

But please, don't go to extremes in trying to maintain an ideal weight. Eat enough to keep you going, and exercise well. If you are too weak to exercise well, then you need to eat enough (concentrating on protein) to make that work. And don't expect weight loss to be quick: the only time you lose weight quickly is when your body is in big trouble. Otherwise it will work hard to maintain a balanced weight. Go slowly, let the body get adjusted to each new circumstance.

That would depend on your current weight and other factors. Are you trying to lose or maintain. You need to consult a weight management chart. You are on your way to developing anorexia, the body and mind needs food to survive and grow. Too many of our young women are dying because they perceive food as the enemy. Please get help ASAP!

It would depend on your body type, current weight, whether you want to lose/gain weight, and daily activity levels. 2000 is the baseline that most food labels adhere to. If you are really concerned speak with a dietitian or your doctor.

Me too, but 1000 for ladies and 1500 for men. Any less and your body will start to eat itself and that leads to organ failure and death. Little and often if you are not a food fan
