I drink on average 5 cans of Coke a day and about 4 cups of hot tea and the rest would be iced Tea. I try to drink water... but I can't get past the fridge.

Have any suggestions to help me get past my addiction to Tea and Soda and get myself to drink more water?

You have to just decide to do it. I went through this a couple of years ago. I had to do it in order to improve my health and well-being. I now keep water in an insulated cup with ice near me at all times during the day. I will have either lemon or lime slices in it, I will also flavor it with pomegranate juice, or blueberry juice, which will give you a bit of the natural sweet flavor, while still being good for you. I have also used cranberry juice as a flavoring. Crystal Lite can be used. Within a couple of weeks, I started feeling more energetic and I was sleeping better. A couple of more weeks and my skin was clearer and more youthful looking, without creams and masques and all that all the time. Now I can just use those for a fun spa day. I am a tea drinker also, and only occationally have a cup of coffee. I will not give up having a cuppa, but that is how I was brought up. I have, however given up putting sugar into tea and the occasional coffee. This has also helped my weight and blood pressure, adding in the water, and cutting out the sugar. Once you start, you will soon feel like you are missing the water, you will start feeling so much better physically, you will not miss the soda. Don't buy the soda...just force yourself to walk away. If you don't buy it, you will not drink it. Try it, one day at a time. If you cannot give up the soda completely switch to the 8 ounce cans, which are really one serving, this will cut your consumption in half. Then cut down to only having a soda on Monday and Friday, or one of the weekend days, as a treat. Your tastes will change, just give yourself time. Best of luck to you!

Make yourself drink water for a few days and you will get used to the taste. I had to do the same several years ago. At first I even felt like throwing up every time I drank it. Now, that is all I drink and I love it. Just keep reminding yourself that it is really good for you. But you can also buy some powder stuff to put in the water that gives it flavor. Not sure what it is called. But if you do that, be sure that it is sugarfree or you might was well keep drinking cokes.

1) Quit buying Coke.
2) Start buying Propel/Gatorade/other flavored water.
3) Drink that every time you have an urge to drink something. Give yourself 3-5 days, you won't even miss soda anymore.

As far as tea goes, it's good for you but start drinking green tea which is even better for you because of the antioxidants.

Wish you all the best.

(BTW, you may continue drinking iced tea since it won't hurt you unless you drink way too much, then it may cause bladder stones, otherwise 2-3 times a day won't hurt--the only thing it will hurt would probably be your budget but looks like you have survived so far, so I am sure it won't be that bad).

:)

All the best.

If the tap water in your area is distasteful, try a filtering pitcher or tank to help remove the offensive taste. Bottled water is also a possible solution. If you really just want something wet but basically no taste, try distilled water. All the minerals have been removed.

If you've just got to have taste and fizz, try flavored seltzers. Carbonated, flavored but no calories. Particularly if you are trying to lose weight, eliminating the soda will help. The five cans a day your are drinking contribute about 1200 empty calories to your daily food intake.

You could wean yourself off sugary/flavored stuff by starting off with flavored water (its out there despite how silly it is)

The most important thing to realize is that water has its own distinct flavor (people say its tatesless because its so universal) and it might just be an aquired taste for you.

There is nothing wrong with the tea, except for the caffeine ans the way tea stains your teeth. FYI there is a link between caronated bevs and ostioperosis. The carbonation leeches calcium from your bones. Try switching to decaf tea some of the time. If you halt your caffeine intake completely you will suffer for about a week or more with really nasty, horrible headaches that will not go away. Trust me, I found out the hard way!

Im the same way you are. No flavor is dull to me also. So I use these little packages I found in the grocery store to flavor my water and now I rarely drink anything else but water. Lots of flavors also.

Water has no taste; is something wrong with you?

Stop drinking soda as soon as possible; tea is considerably better for you, but you need to drink water.

Some people put lemon in their water to give it some flavor, but there is no reason for you to dislike it. If you tap water is too hard or soft, just try spring water.
