Yes if you put half and half or sugar in it.

wow, that's a lot of coffee!
Caffeine is a stimulant, so it shouldn't *slow* your metabolism, but if you're drinking too much, as you certainly are (try to cut down at first to no more than 6, goodness me!), then you are likely not getting enough water. Coffee counts *against* the required 8 glasses a day of water, because it is a diueretic, and removes water from your body. You end up dehydrated, and that's not good for weight-loss or for health in general. If you are trying to lose weight, it becomes even more important to get a lot of water. If you are dieting especially, you need to make sure you are flushing all the toxins out of your body and not causing damage to your kidneys.
Good luck!

I haven't read any research lately stating that it hinders weight loss, but 8-10 cups a day is way overload for you. This is way too much caffeine for your system every day. It is a dehydrator and drains fluids from your system, and along with that, nutrients and vitamins go out too, this is not good to be in such excess of it.
I love coffee too, but have to limit myself, you should too!

one cup no.

8-10 cups yes! because the caffine raises your insulin levels, which makes it more difficult to metabolize sugars.

many weightloss pills are chock full of caffine, but i'm not sure how much weight loss is due to the extra caffine in those pills.

Like the first guy said the added sugar and fat to your coffee is also a problem.

As a diuretic, it flushes out all water-soluable vitamins. When B-vitamins are low, our nerves start acting up. Sometimes this makes us eat to regain calmness (like when trying to stop smoking).

Caffein also destroys inositol, a B-vitamin. Inositol deficiency leaves the scalp unable to keep hair follicles in tight, and you begin to loose hair. Then, the effect of calcium leaching starts to show, maybe your teeth will chip unattractively, or other bones may suffer.

Coffee. Like most things: good stuff in moderate amounts.

on the contrary, coffee helps weight loss because it has a thermogenic effect it elevates body temperature slightly and by that you will burn more calories.
However, 10 cups of coffee is too much !!!
