How Many Miles Is an average Golf Course?

Around 4 miles, from the longest tees. Even on the same course, there might be a mile difference between the shortest tees and the longest. However, to give a general idea from the professional level:
The longest course on the 2006 PGA tour is Medinah at 7,561 yards. That's 4.3 miles.
The shortest course is Brown Deer Park at 6,759 yards. That's 3.84 miles.
Of course, this is only the straight line distance between the tee boxes and the holes. Actual walking distances would be longer.

The average golf course is between 4-5 miles, how ever it really depends what golf course you play on.

Take the yardage of your course and multiply it by 3 (because there are three feet in a yard). Take the result and divide it 5,280 (because there are 5,280 feet in a mile). That will give you the miles for your golf course. Suppose you're on a 6,800 yard course. Here's what it would look like:
6,800 x 3 = 20,400
20,400 / 5,280 = 3.86 miles
