there are good and bad religious people, I would guess the same proportion that there are good and bad atheists or agnostics. Shouldn't the religious people be on average nicer if they take their religion serious?

People choose to be religious, some take their religion seriously, because they have no doubt that Satan is real and that Satan wants humans to be impulsive, and not have faith in themselves as individuals and not have faith in God. Many people that believe in religion, get distracted by worldly desires, most often it is due to lack of religious knowledge. For example, there is an epidemic in the world of non-Arab Muslims not knowing what the Quran says, because they read it in Arabic, and there is an epidemic in the world of Christians who gain their knowledge of their religion from their hateful bigot religious leaders rather than through reading the old and new testament for themselves.

The Muslim and Christian fundamentalists that preach hatred of one another are ignorant of their scriptures, for their hatreds contradict their own scriptures, their hatred is a manifestation of the culture of materialism, that if one is not a member of ones political/religious group that they are the enemy, human social reality is much more complex than that. That is why Muslim and Christian fundamentalists often distort their own religions to win supporters, for example Christian fundamentalists claim that by simply accepting Jesus as your savior, you will be forgiven for all your sins and get a ticket into heaven, and Muslim fundamentalists claim that the whole world will one day be Muslim, and that the purpose of Jihad is to spread as much death and terror among non-Muslims as possible to make them stop supporting their corrupt dictators and sending their armies to Muslim lands, however the Quran says that most people will not believe no matter what you do, and warns against transgressing in war, and warns against hatred, and etc.

If you closely study the Christian and Muslim fundamentalists, you will see they are all heavily supported by capitalists, and it is a fact of human history, that the rich often distort religion to divide people and win their political objectives through war. Logically the real goal of God is to unite humans against evil, not to fight over differences of scripture.

It would seem so, yes. The problem with this is that the religious people I've met, so far in life, tend to see me as less of a person, because I'm "not as religious" as they are. The "bad" ones, as you put it, are the ones that think certain ways of acting are not "Godly" enough, therefore making the person less religious. I've written about this before and I still feel that all religions have these "man-made" rules that they feel everyone should abide by. I feel that God has given us all the rules in the 10 commandments, so just because I don't wear dresses, or because I cut my hair, shouldn't make me unsuitable for some of these religions. But, because I don't follow some of these rules I am excluded from being "worthy" in the eyes of these religions, therefore I'm looked down upon by their members. These folks feel they are righteous and everyone else will go to hell, for not acting as they do.

Well in my opinion and bare in mind it is simply an opinion for the most part I think that religion is a thing that is taught to people and they simply accept it without truly understanding what its real purpose is. Kinda sad really. I have done some time in jail and as it seems to me alot of inmates find themselves drawn to religon as if god will clean there souls for the bad they did in the world of man. They find god for there own selfish reason not because what is taught is the right way to be but because it is what someone says it is the right thing and we all know how all of that goes we were all kids once we dont always do what we are told because we have yet to learn the lessons in life that teach us why as far as blaming others for your bitterness like the above person did it just goes to prove my point belief without understanding I mean lets face it to walk a noble path takes true dedication and conviction and knowing why you do it. Not for a pass into heaven but because it is the just and right way to be. Now do understand I am not by any means a religious man not in any sense of the word but I have an understanding of things remember this religion is made by man god is beyond all of that.

If people were very serious about their religion...no offense to Christians, cuz I'm a Christian too, but being very serious can go over the top. Like the movie Population 436. Not all people deeply into their religion are like that though, ok? Just some.

And on average we are, yeah there are always a few people who may stubble, but for the most part we are kinder than those who dont have Christ. Just like how there are actually some nice non-Religious people... whats up with that?

Being nice or nasty has more to do with personality than with faith. Christian folk should be sensitive to the feelings of other people and should go out of their way to be polite and respectful, but Christianity is filled with all personality types just like any other group of people. I have met Muslim that were very nice and others that were ugly. I have met Jews that were very nice and other that were impossible to get along with. The world dis the world and there is no saving it. People in general are not getting friendlier, but nastier. America is becoming a very unfriendly place to live and work because we are placing too much emphasis on money and material things and no attention on Jesus Christ. This nation will fall---we are the Babylon that is mention in the end times prophesies. We will fall not because of the economy, but because of a lack of love in Christ Jesus.

It's because they look down their noses at people for not believing in the same thing they do. They are right and everyone else is wrong . They are going to heaven and the rest are not . Ultimately they think that they are better than others and have more of a right to this earth because they are closer to god ... What a disappointment they are in for .

In My point of view the one who show's himself/herself that he is a very religious person in reality is not a good person because if you are really a nice person you will not tell yourself but people will judge you and that how religious you are. In short no showing off in the religion.

Yes, they should be.
I think it depends on where they are in their Christian walk. Some Christians are learning and growing and they're all at different places in that experience, depending on how long they've been Christians and depending on the quality of teaching and preaching they get and also how much time they individually spend reading their Bible and seeking God. Then there are some other Christians who accepted Jesus and stopped right there. They're just sitting and not moving forward, unfortunately.

It depends on if the person lives for their religion or the religion is just another thing in their life. If a person lives for their religion then they are generally more at peace with what goes on around them and can "tolerate" miscomings and indifference. If you just say oh I am Jewish or I am Christian or Hindu or whatever and don't practice your religion than you are just giving yourself another label and nothing else.
