Yes, you still need to get a marriage license if you are married in a church. The clergyman completes the form as presider and witnesses, usually the Best Man and Maid of Honor, sign along with the husband and wife. This is to fulfill lthe state legal requirements and is in addition to any certificate which may be issued by the church.

In the UK, people use the term "marriage licence", but in reality you don't have a marriage licence if you marry in church - that is a quote from our vicar by the way.
If you get married in church, then you apply for the banns of marriage with your local vicar. If one of you doesn't live in the parish where you'll be getting married then you also have to apply for the banns and have them read in the parish that that person lives in too, and then pay for and collect a banns certificate - it is £29 - and give it to the vicar who will be marrying you.
If neither of you live in the parish and you can't write down a relative's address and live there over the period when the banns are read, then you must be on the church's register of electors and attend that church regularly, or apply for a special licence.

You need to get a marriage license in the state that you are getting married in. The person who is doing the ceremony must also be licensed by the state you are getting married in. To be married in the eyes of the law, you must have a marriage license. After you are married you have to make sure that the completed license is returned to the proper office.

When you get married anywhere you need a license, so you can get the benefits of being married, like cheaper insurance!! :-) If you wanna do it at the same time, like make if official during the ceremony, and if you are having a unity candle, or something similar to that, you could sign the papers during the song/speech. That is what I am going to do. I am going to sign it during the unity candle :-)

You need a licence or it wont be legal. You apply to the local registrar and they prepare the document, you sign it in the church and the priest sends it back to the registrar to be recorded. Your priest/minister will explain all this to you.
Good Luck!
