My friend's daughter wants to know this...she has a crush on her older brother's best friend, and she doesn't want to be the "bratty younger sister," but to be more mature. Any ideas?

I went out with one of my brother's best friends when I was 26 and he had had a crush on me for 10 years. I am and have been very mature and have not been bratty since I was 8 years old. Anyway I was dating this guy for a few weeks when I realized that he was treating me like I was a bratty little girl, then I realized that he LIKED it. I did not. My advice would be for her not to change her behavior, if he does not like her then she shouldn't alter herself or be phoney to make him like her. If he does like her maybe it is because she is bratty or as they say if you are grown up she is a woman that speaks her mind.

I was the bratty younger sister to five older brothers and it is a hard label to get rid of. The exact same thing happened to me and my brother was so stupid. I told his best friend that I thought he was cute one night when he was spending the night at our house. We started going out shortly after that. I was never bratty around him but I will admit that I was bratty around my brother. I dated him for six months until my brother caught on. He was so upset that he stopped talking to his friend and my mom made me break up with him. My brother found out a lot that I wish he never learned but oh well. That is what I get for having a brother 2 years older than me. It wasn't anything bad but I guess to an older brother it was. Now I am in my thirties and so is my older brother, I am still considered his bratty little sister. The label is still there but I have realized that he cares about me and I wear that label pretty proudly now. By the way, I married the guy I was telling you about 15 years ago. We couldn't be happier. My brother was the best man.

Stop acting young and bratty would be a good place to start.

tell her to stop acting like the bratty younger sister and start being more mature. she needs to stop wearing clothes that say look at me i am a kid and start wearing clothes that say -- hey look at me i am growing up. and last but not least play hard to get -- you know distant. let him discover her and start the chase.

Stop being bratty. Start being more friendly and helpful to her brother.Laugh at his stupid jokes. Plus try not to giggle as much too. Good luck

Leave the brother alone. You don't want any false moves. I myself HAD that lable and now everything seems alot better. After you leave him alone start being nice. Just not obvious nice and with that eventually you will lose the lable and be the Ok sister.
