Science Diet is more expensive than the cat foods you can buy in the grocery store, but it is formulated to be packed with nutrients that the cat's body will use. Store-bought foods tend to be very high in water and by-products which produce a lot of smelly waste. You will see a lot less in the litter box if you feed your cat Science Diet dry food. For wet food, use that brand also or try natural foods that are good for cats such as sardines packed in water, cheese and moderate amounts of veggies such as lettuce and carrots.

I feed my indoor and outdoor cats and kittens purina dry and moist cat & kitten food they seem to prefer it most. My experience has been that the more canned food I feed my indoor cats the more they tend to go poopie, my daughter's cats seem to do the same however, I have discovered that as with people you can't judge all by some, each have their own personalities as well as eating habits and so on. My best advice would be to speak to your vet he/she would know best if this is ordinary for your cat or if it may be something not yet diagnosed . Try cutting back on the wet food some and see if there's a change. Good luck !

Have you had him checked for parasites? If not, that would be my first step. Foods that I have found that my cats now and in the past have done well on: Natural Balance, Wellness Kitten, Eukanuba Kitten or Iams. Premium foods create less waste. Just remember when switching your pet from one brand of food to another it must be gradual, or you will create digestive upset and diarrhea. Good Luck

I need to know what brand you are feeding your cat now but I would suggest Purina kitty food. Just make sure whatever brand you get that it is for kittens and not adult cats. Or switch to a cheaper brand. You know that you can buy small bags of cat food that don't cost too much just for you to experiment to see how your kitty is doing. Give it a couple days to see the reaction.

I buy my 7 month old kitty IAMS in a can.
Awhile back I asked a question about why my cat was
drinking so much water everyday and found out that dry
cat food is bad for cats. Ever since I changed his food to
wet cat food he has been going to the restroom regularly
and drinks WAY less water. It was dehydrating him.
IAMS is supposed to be the healthiest catfood.
It is cheap at Petco if you have a PALS card.
They only need one can a day.

Fancy feast moist, and fancy feast Gold dry nuggets.
Iams is healthier, but most cats prefer the taste of FF, and if the cat doesn't eat the food, that's just wasted money.
Maybe the food you're giving the cat is cheap, inferior food, and most of it gets pooped out because it's worthless as food. Sometimes the catfood makes use meats from Mad Cows, or questionable other sources. Dn't be cheap in feeding your cat--they still eat less than large dogs, lotsw less.

The amount your cat is peeing and pooping isn't the brand of his food but the amount. Have you had the cat to the vet yet? If he's eating alot it could be time to have him wormed--all kittens get worms from their mothers and that makes them eat alot. He's eating alot of dry--them drinking alot of water--making him go alot it sounds like. Try that--it might help!

Purina makes an excellant kitten chow. But don't worry about how much waste there is. You might worry more if there wasn't enough as that could mean blockage.
