How about look at your own life. Who says it has to be a famous historical person???
Find someone in your life-famous or not-who has effected or influenced you and write about them and the impact they have had on you!

you need to think about who you admire most or who you are curious about.
google that person and start being a detective.
i had a paper to do on Seamus Heaney and through my research, i became more interested in his writing. i was able to find his speech given at his Nobel Prize ceremony. hearing his voice made him a more interesting subject to me and i did the paper with no problems.

Why not write about Pincess Diana. Her death was a tragedy and is also still talked about today.
Another thing, it is interesting reading about her, what really happened, and the suspicions circulating her death.
She was an amazing woman.
