I wouldn't want to go against your mom, but it (play volleyball on Sunday) isn't wrong, per se. She probably just likes to have the family home together on Sunday - esp. if she is like me, in addition to it being SUnday. Obviously, you won't be missing church, but it will be a very hectic day.
Maybe you could talk to her about doing stuff as a family on Sunday mornings so you can play volleyball. Or, is that the only day club plays?
What ever she decides, honor and respect your decision.

your mom is being superstitious. Sunday is no different than any other day.
Think about it...she drags you off to church to pray to the old man in the sky who made the first man from dust, the first woman from a RIB BONE, a "talking" snake and a tree that produces "magic" apples...The story is ludicrous.
Volleyball on the other hand, is REAL. It's good exercise and it's a POSITIVE activity. There are alot of other kids who prefer sitting around all day doing drugs. At least you have chosen a healthy, clean and positve activity to occupy your time. Your mother should be proud of you and encourage you to take part in sunday volleyball.
-good luck.

I want to say that you should not play volleyball on Sunday because most people believe that you should not do anything on Sunday but go to church(you can't wash clothes,go shopping or anything).I can understand your Mom for saying that you can't but if I was your mom,I probably would let you play volleyball.

My daughter was a state champion swimmer and a lot of her meets were on Sunday and she had to miss church. Looking back, I really regret that I let her miss so much church.
Your situation is different because you would not be missing church service. Personally, if I were your mom I would not have a problem with it as long as you went to church.
1. Talk to her again and emphasize that you will be going to church
2. Talk to a Pastor or Youth Pastor and have them talk to your mom. Reassure her that you still will be going to church.
3. Tell her that this is a good opportunity for you to be a witness to other kids who don't know Christ.
Good Luck,,,,,,,,,your mom just loves you. You are very Blessed!

"Technically", Sunday is a day of rest, however, though I have read the Bible, I definately am NOT a "Thumper", so I would say that if you are really wanting to do it, then DO IT! My mom tried to get me to be a Church goer when I was younger, but at 12, I made the decision to make up my own mind and not go. Free Will!! (Isn't that preached in the Bible? That we have a choice?)

Um, if ur not jewish then theirs nothing wrong with doing things on sunday or the sabbath which is tecnicaly saturday. ask her to explain her reasoning to you, be respectful. If she says just cause tell her that this is something God wants you to do. or tell her that by missing club volleyball you would be missing an opurtunity to minister to the non christians in the group. its worked for me.

back in the old days it would be wrong to do anything but go to church or read the bible but now churches are completely fine with people doing other things on Sundays as long as you observe it as the lord's day and keep it holy so i say go ahead and play some volleyball

Just remember to honor your parents, even if you don't believe the same thing, that is what the Bible tells us to do.
But, Sunday is not the sabbath, so it really shouldn't be called the day of rest, It is "the Lord's Day" so you need to strike a balance between what is more important, being able to stay in a worshipful attitude and going to church with only that on your mind, or having a baseball game on your mind and making the Lord's day that much and geared towards pleasing yourself.

Oh this is a tough one!
Whether or not it is right to play volleyball on a Sunday is irrelevant here. The most important thing is that you obey your mom. God will bless you for that.
It would be wrong for me to give my opinion if it overides your mums opinion.
Trust God in this, and obey your mum - this will be pleasing to yor mum and the Lord too.
