I used to have long hair and then cut it short, on a whim ... I've never looked back! There are a lot of things you can do with it. I get mine cut in razored layers with a really choppy look in the back. That way you can wash you hair and put some hair putty in it when you're blow drying and make it fun and crazy, but still feminine and sexy.
If your hair is straight you definitely want to get a cut that adds some texture and volume to the cut, without being puffy or dowdy.
Having short hair is great because its easy and low maintenance. You can make it conservative for the office but then have fun with it when you go out by experimenting with different products and self styling.
A good place to go is www.hairstyler.com. You can try on a bunch of different hairstyles by downloading a photo of your face. It has to work for you and your face shape. My face is heart shaped, so for someone whose face is round or oval, a choppy bob might work better. Something that frames more.

Hairs (heres) my advice.
Play with your hair and try different styles at home. Try pushing it forward, framing your face. Try different partings, like on the right side or the left side. Try parting it in the middle sometimes straight and sometimes a little messier. Try using gels, whipped waxes, and blow drying it to different styles. Wear it straight some days, and curled other days. Use hot steam mini rollers, or mini curling irons. Use barrettes, combs, hair bands or other decorative pieces. The best way to find styles is by just having fun and playing with your hair, and not being afraid to try things. Consider having a couple friends over and doing each others hair. It is fun and you may be able to teach each other a few things. Enjoy!

Well, buy some styling gel and spike up your hair if your a guy. If a girl just go with the flow.
