Some tickets are payable through the mail, you sign the ticket in the space where it asks for your signature and mail in the payment. Be aware that payment for the ticket is the same as pleading guilty.
Some tickets have mandatory court appearances and cannot be called 'payable'........check to see which type of ticket you have because if it is telling you to come to court, you may need to make that appearance and failure to do so could result in a bench warrant being issued for you.

I've had 2 speeding tickets in my life. The first was at 16 and on the ticket it stated "court date on the 22nd of the month" and I went in and paid the fine. At 39 I received another ticket and on the bottom of it was written "if you feel this citation was issed unjustly report on the 2nd if your in agreement with said citation pay the amount due before the 15th at this address". I mailed my fine.

Same way I'm going to take care of the one I just got on Friday. Just go to one of the substations listed on the back of the ticket and go there and pay it.
*sigh* I was careless.
There are also online options for paying and, in Texas you can pay by mail, too.
I paid by mail in 1996, (return receipt requested); they lost the paperwork, and I got a warrant for my arrest a month (or so) later. I had the signed green card from the "return receipt requested," and was able to go to the main police station and get the thing cleared, but what a scary hassle! So, I'm just gonna pay in person.

Pay the amount listed on the back of the ticket at the location listed on the back of the ticket.
You may forfeit the opportunity to go to Traffic School which might also forfeit the opportunity to have your driving record expunged.

I believe you only have to go to court if you want to fight the ticket. Otherwise, you just pay it.
