In all religious text it states that God can destroy the Devil and not vice-versa so why doesn't he? Surly that is an easy way to stop hatered on this planet. God works in mysterious ways.

A very good question,
God has said that he will destroy the devil, (Revelation 20:10) but there is a very good reason why he has not done so yet.
The reason why he has allowed the devil to exist and influence things on the earth for so long can be found in the bible. it shows that the devil was originally created as a good person but he misused his free will and caused the first human pair to rebel against god. (Genesis 3:1-5, revelation 20:2)
In so doing he raised a vital issue which needed to be resolved, namely does god have the right to rule over his intelligent creatures and decide right and wrong for them?
Why did god not destroy the devil and adam and eve straight away? Because that would not have proved anything except that he was more powerful, in order to settle the issue god has allowed mankind a long period of time to try to do things their own way to see if it was in fact better, and he has allowed the devil relative influence over mankind totry to prove his point.
That time period - now a little over 6000 years - has proven the devil to be wrong, and in fact his time is almost up, prophecies in the bible and world events show that since 1914 the devil has been confined to the vicinity of the earth (Revelation 12:7-12), the result has been nearly a century of 'woe' for the earth, but notice that Revelation 12:12 says that since then he would have just a short period of time.
Soon god will bring what revelation describes as 'armagedon', this is not the destruction of the planet that many think, but destruction of the wicked, and the devil will then be put out of action. This event is going to happen very soon.

As God (as you call it) is everything, if it destroyed the Devil, then it would be destroying itself...

Because Devil is not a physical monster type creature that lives somewhere else. but Devil is within the humans and the name of that devil is wishes and wants. As we (human) increases our worldly wishes devil becomes more powerful within us and if we limit our wishes he wil be slowly and gradually destroyed from ourself and thats the power that God has given us. Yes he can destroy and he will after the day of judjement but until then he is waiting for us to destroy the devil and one who destroy will go to heaven and the other to hell.
And the sure way of destroying is Trust in God, Having paitence in all situaitions and most of all by our mind(Positive thinking) which is the best difference in Angel and Humans and thats mind by which a man can reach far more further and higher then Angels thats why we are called Human Beings and r the best creatures of GOD ALMIGHTY.

I'm not sure I'll get this right, but God cast the devil down to earth as punishment for questioning God. However, God also allows the Devil to work to try to steal souls, which God allows for now because he gave man free will to choose, and God would rather you choose him, not be forced to worship him.
But ultimately, too many of man will turn away from God, and God will return to not only take with Him those who are followers, but destroy the last vestiges of evil. That will be during the tribulation. Then there will be a thousand years of piece with the reign of the Son of Man.

God will one day destroy satan and all who follow him.
God gives us free will to chose who we will follow, so satan can never come back and say we didnt have a choice.
The time is coming when God will say enough and destroy, satan, death etc..., but He is patient as He wishes none to perish.
He wants us all to be with Him, so he is patient.
The state of the world and events point that we are nearing the time when He will put an end to things as we now know them.
Remember His thoughts and ways are higher then ours, so we dont always have to understand "why", but accept He has the authority!!! Im thankful that God loves us so much and is patient so that everyone has the opportunity to come to Him!

When god comes back is when a war will begin... and that is were god is hopefully suppose to destroy the devil but God is the almight and he has so much power so knowing anything god will destroy the devil when he comes back.

He has destroyed him. It was done so when Jesus died on the cross. The only thing is he has appointed a time when the devil will be thrown into the lake of fire. That's for the future

Because at one time the were friends. God has th eability to see the good in people maybes he can see some good in there somewhere. Besides if he did destroy him where would the evil people go when they died cos effecively there would be no hell then. We need somewhere for the evil to go and for someone to keep em in check and suffer for there sins.

Cos if he did what would entertain God then? - up to now creating pathetic humans and watching them squirm has been his one great buzz - it is spoilt a bit by omniscience - in that he knows exactly what each human will do before he creates them, but he just tries not to worry about that. It's a bit like laughing at Simpson re-runs.
