All of my dogs love me, and I think that because..... If I wake up and have a zit on my face, they are still wagging their tails and can't wait for me to pet them. When I come up they greet me at the door and their whole bodies wag, and it doesn't matter what kind of day I've had they are so happy to see me. If I try something on and ask if it makes me look fat - they never say yes. No matter what I look like, no matter how many things have gone wrong in day - they are happy just to be around me.

And I love them right back!

Dogs live in a pack mentality . If you are the leader then they fellow you and show submission to the leader . They show affection to those that make them feel good , but may not be the leader . Dogs need a leader or they become the dominant one in the household . That doesn't mean you have to be cruel or mean to the dog . just be the boss . Dogs need exercise , exercise , exercise .

Most animals know love better than people! We think of love as lust! I have actually seen animals cry and morn over a loved one that die. Sad, in a way. They say we evolved from animals, and animals have more compassion. But, I think they did say in evolution the species does Devolve. Maybe those evolutionist are correct after all. We will die and the true species (animals) can then live in peace.

NO!!!!!! Love is a human emotion. Dogs are dogs and yes they get attached to us as humans, but not LOVE in the way humans love others. I do believe dogs become very protective of us because they are into territories and this area belongs to me and this tree is mine and this human is mine. Make sense?

FYI I adopted 2 Chihuahuas from a Shelter in 2010, they were already like 3 years old. The boy is Rico and girl is Mensa. Rico is obsessed and seemingly is in LOVE with my Sister. When she comes over to visit for the weekend he stares at her watches her every move and always wants her to hold him then he makes moves on her to kiss her and he won't stop until she makes him stop. He hears her name or her initial he perks up his ears and gets excited, he is very protective of her with the cat, he gets into hyper mode and guards her all night when she sleeps on the couch. Just last weekend he took a piece of food (Beneful which is his favorite) and brought to her and stood up and placed it on the edge of the couch and he stands and stares at her waiting for her to grab it and when she did he got all excited and she picked him and put him on the couch with her, of course he takes it as an invitation to KISS he is relentless. She adores him but seems to me he's in LOVE with her. He brought her a piece of his fave food today just like last weekend, when I hold him and talk to him and hug him he keeps his eyes on her, he won't even give me kisses in front of her and if and when he does it's like two licks and he turns back to stare at her. I think he is totally in love with her cause in our family she is the only object of his affection. He NEVER EVER humps anyone least of all her. When she calls or I call her he will sit on my lap and listen for key words so he can know if she's visiting us or we will be visiting her. He knows what certain words means and he can figure out who's doing what. I can't seem to find any facts that may explain why he does this, clearly at home I am the leader pack and he is very well behaved when it's just us, but whenever she enters my home SHE becomes his focus. What's up with that?

Depends on the definition of "love".

Normally, they don't love us, they worship us, especially their own pack (family).

You can see it in their eyes and their devotion to us. Dogs are one of the most loyal "pets" there are, even to the point of being a companion to us humans.

fall in love ? no. they simply get closer to the person who cares about it more than the others or the one that gives it much more attention.
