Yesterday evening, I began to get a headache. The back of my neck hurt as well, so I chalked it up to a tension headache. The headache became progressively worse, to the point of throbbing pain. Then suddenly I broke out in a profuse "cold sweat", and became very nauseous -- to the point that I went into the bathroom to be close to the toilet because I thought I was going to throw up (I never actually did). All the while, I continued to sweat even though I wasn't hot. I was drenched. This lasted about an hour, then fortunately subsided. It really freaked me out because I felt so horrible in that time, I thought I may have had to go to the hospital. I get headaches from time to time, but rarely nausea (I haven't thrown up since 1991), and I've never experienced cold drenching sweat, to that degree. I'm fine now. What was that all about???????

Sister, that could be lots of stuff... from migrane to brain cancer. Just get your behind to the doctor fast, okay?

You probably should drink a bottle of nice red wine before with a friend. Don't talk about negative stuff though during the drinking.

My opinion is that you suffered one of your tension headaches and the severe pain caused what is known as a vasovagal reaction or near fainting spell. the symptoms of this are sweating, nausea or vomiting, dizziness/lightheadedness to the point of nearly or even briefly completely fainting. If you looked in the mirror you would look very pale. It's an automatic uncontrollable reaction once it starts and the only harm is if you are hurt by falling if you faint. Having said that, I agree with others that you should not be trying to diagnose a medical condition you are truly concerned about. You can ask for opinions but as you can see by the varied and incorrect responses here that the diagnosis should be left to the professionals.

It may be something you are eating that you are allergic to that can be causing the migranes and sweats. If you keep eating what you may be allergic to, this can get worse. Try to think hard about what you ate that day before the headache and sweats began. Of course, you need to be medically diagnosed. Good Luck and take care of yourself, I think you will be fine. Have some tests run to see what you may be allergic to.

Please go see a doctor. Even though you're fine now, but something is going on in your body. Better to get it check before something worse can happen. (The doctor might say it just a virus thing going around, but it better to hear it from him than guessing).

You could be diabetic or hypoglycemic. Go to your doctor and request an A1c blood test.
