The genus Homo appeared approximately 2 million years ago. An example of the first members of the genus Homo is Homo Habilis. The appearance of modern humans [Homo Sapiens Sapiens] is currently set at approximately 190,000 to 200,000 years ago based upon carbon dating of fossils which have been found. Keep in mind however that the date keeps being pushed farther into the past as more fossils are found.

It depends on whether you mean the emergence of genus Homo or our species, H. sapiens.

The first species in our genus was H. habilis, and it appeared about 2.4 million years ago. H. sapiens is only about 200,000 years old, based on two lines of evidence. Genetic studies suggest that's the age of our species, and the oldest modern human skull we've found is about the same age.
