Focus on being healthy, not skinny. Make a point of going out and rollerblading or riding your bike every day and try to stay away from junk foods.

Try the following : do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. The 45 minute thing is not true, but don't over 60 minutes at a time.

Do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.

The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!

Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.

Read fitness magazines, like Shape and Fitness for motivation and tips.

Good luck and stick at it.

It's good to start young, I mean exercise routine. At this age you shouldn't worry too much about weight, it could be baby fat. I have no idea how tall you are so I can't know how much overweight that is. Watch what you eat, learn to start eating healthy, it'll help you in the long run. Litte to none soda drinks, candies, chips. More fruits, grapefruit will help. Try not to eat late, before 7pm. And do not worry too much about portions of food, you are young and your body needs the nutrition. Drionk milk and water. Good luck.

You're not over weight so please don't try to loose it. You're still young. All you need is to get in shape. Being active will help. Try more walking, bycling. Play sport, any kind of sport will also help. Drink lot of water, avoid if you can, soda, juices....etc.

eat less calories and excercise in your spare time. i went on slim fast when i was in 7th grade, and it worked really well for me. then, while i was watching tv or before bed i would do crunches and leg circles and jumping jacks.... anything that gets your heart going faster. <3
