Yeah, I have been on seroquel on and off for about two and a half years. It does help with sleep, but just be aware that each persons reaction to it is different. I found that I got dizzy spells throughout the day, and at times, had a hard time keeping my eyes open. I definitely recommend taking it about an hour or so before you're ready to go to bed, not in the morning like I had to. Good luck.

I am fortunate my body could not tolerate seroquel. It is not a good drug for everyone. Paxil is even worse. You can find out a LOT of good information by going to the site below and searching for that specific drug name. The board is for paxil survivors, but we discuss a lot of different ADs there. You don't have to join to get the facts. Check it out (yeah, it's not a scam site or anything - we have psychiatrists, nurses, doctors, and other medical professionals that confer with us frequently, and there is an entire section dedicated to scientific readings on these subjects).

what most people dont understand about psychiatry is that it is all a guessing game.
why not focus on trying to find the root cause of depression as it just "does not happen". depression is a symptom of something physically wrong or situational.
chances are you could have a virus of some sort or even something such as IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) there are three types.
those who have ibs lack an enzyme in the gut (intestines) that regulate the serretonin in the brain (and also help with bowel movements)
read up on IBS and then if you feel that is not the issue, ask the doctor about how viruses play a role in depression.
Good luck!

NO!!!
This is the worst medicine EVER!
I been taking Seroquel for a year.
I slept all day. Got cotton mouth, dizzy, light headed. Increased heart rate. I got high blood pressure and type 1 diabetes from this medicine. It doesn't even run in my family. You gain alot of weight off of this medicine. I was 120 when I went to see my doctor. She put me on this medicine and I gained 30 pounds in a month! That's a pound a day! Now I'm 150! I don't recommend this medicine to anybody.

Dear Holley. I cannot advise you because I'm not your Dr. Paxil is an anti-depressant, but Seroquil I believe it is really for heavy duty emotional problems. If its the same drug my son was on it makes people gain a lot of weight and can lead to other health problems. You need to have an in depth talk with your Dr ( not just the nurse!) and perhaps seek guidance from an RN/mental health specialist. They are familiar with the effects of prescription drugs. The Dr took my son off it, and he seems to be getting along okay without it, bless his heart. Good luck.

When I take Seroquel, I feel like I'm sleeping for 3 days and I have dry mouth for a day. But, I use it as a sleeping aid for bipolar mania. I'm not a doctor but I heard that long-term use of Seroquel increases the risk of diabetes. Please consult with your doctor and not with this forum.

I would never take it. The only people who should ever take it would be people who would be at risk for murdering others due to their symptoms of mania or schizophrenia.
That drug has way too many permanent adverse effects associated with it. It would not be worth the risks unless it saves life's in the process.

I've been taking seroqel for about 2 years now for severe PTSD
and depression. I take 500mg/day. I think it is very helpful and I
haven't experienced any harmful side effects.
