Hi. Can anyone tell me how many calories are burnt in an hour of circuit training? I do two classes per week, each an hour long. Obviously I know it depends on the individual and how hard they work during the class, but on average? I also do aerobics (1 hour) and would be interested to know how much that burns aswell. Thanks for any help.

Lets begin by explaining to you that Calories is another name for Energy, and that the more actuve that you are, the more energy that you will burn. How one gains or loses weight depends on how many calories that you are left at the end of the day. Roughly for a girl 1300 calories is the break even point for gaining or losing weight. What you should concentrate on is the quality of food that you eat. How you should be able to max out and burn calories is by doing aerobic exercises every day. You can do it in many ways, and you can make it to be a fun event, rather than a dull same old routine type of thing. For example, in my particular case, not that I need to lose any weight, quite the contrary, because according to my doc I am considered to be underweight. I do a variety of different things every day. For example, one day I'll swim for 2 hours non-stop, then another day, I'll jog 5 miles per day with my dog, still another day I'll just walk several for a few hours after a day of work, another day I'll play basketball, or I'll play a round of golf.
You see the idea is that there are many things that you can do, and you can have lots of fun at it at the same time. By the way weight--lifting does not count. That will only work your muscles, and your objective is aerobic training only, if your goal is to lose weight, or at the very least, be in good shape.

I haven't a clue, however my friend has a watch that calculates calories burned, heart rate, etc. It's very cool. Since every workout is different you can have a better measurement that way.
