This is not true.
I grew up in France and am a big Formula One fan (still here in the US). If you're a F1 fan, you know that NASCAR and IRL exists, but we never see it on TV except if you have the French "Speed" chanel. Also, we are busy with other races like the WRC and the Paris-Dakar, so there's not much room for others.

No. I'm pretty sure most of them don't even know what NASCAR is. However, they are pretty big fans of Formula One (formule 1 or F1) there's even budget hotels in France called Formula One (not related I'm sure but a funny coincidence).
