While the jury is still out on this one..there have been documented incidences of death after avaocado ingestion.
A quote as to why it is thought to be hazardous to birds:

"Avocado- The pit of the avocado contains high amounts of tannin. The tannin in the pit can leach into the meat, therefore tainting it and making it dangerous. It is best that all avocado be avoided because one can never be sure, without scientific analysis of each fruit, of the amount of this toxic substance in an individual avocado."

Another quote:

"Never feed avocado or any products containing them to your pet bird. They have been linked to fluid build-up in bird lungs which is often fatal. Besides whole avocado and guacamole, many beauty products such as facial "mud" masks may contain avocado and care should be taken that these products are not anywhere that the bird could contact and potential chew on the container."

I believe in staying on the safe side. I have read this information time and time again, as well as reading the stories of people who lost their parrots as a result of eating avocado.

Would my parrots die as a result of tucking into a dish of quacamole?
I don't know. But after reviewing the evidence, I have no intention of taking such a chance when there are about a thousand other things they CAN eat safely.
I'm sure we could all probably survive ingesting a tiny bit of rat poison...but why would you want to?
I just simply think that you shouldn't bother with it when there are so many other wonderful things they can learn to eat.

Yes, avacado will. Also poisonous are apple seeds, chocolate, teflon fumes, bug spray, and perches with insecticide on them. Don't put keys in the cage as toys because they'll die from the heavy metals content and don't make a cage with galvanized wire for the same reason (they'll die an agonizingly slow death).

You should better not try it! It is considered to be a very dangerous poison for a parrot. The same applies to chocolate.Never ever give a parrot such poisons. It is a pity to put an animal's life in danger just out of curiosity.

I really don't know. But if I were you, I'd call an Aviairian Vet and ask before giving the Parrot anything other than it's normal diet
