My baby sleeps from 10.30 at night usually untill 8 the next morning, but has no naps during the day, is this normal or should she still be napping in the day?

YIKES! No naps during the day, not normal and not good! Are you talking about a 3 month old baby or a 3 year old child? I'm assuming you mean an infant. Infants needs about 16 hours of sleep in a 24 hour period. They need naps during the day and an early bedtime, 8pm at the latest. An infant as young as yours should not spend more than 2 hours awake at a time. As it is your child is only getting, maybe 10 hours of sleep, that's 6 hours less than what they need. Think about how you would feel if 6 hours of your sleep was cut out everyday. I would not be able to function, that's for sure. If he/she is up at 8 am, they should be back down for a nap no later than 10 am and that's for a child that is already well rested. Most babies I've kept in my home day care can't stay awake for more than an hour and a half before needing to go back down for a nap. Your child needs a lot more sleep than you are providing. If you don't make a change now it could cause sleep issues as they get older and possible learning issues. I'm not trying to scare you, I'm just very serious about kids and sleep. They need so much more than we realize and they won't do it on their own. I can't stand it when people say that kids will sleep when they get tired, they won't. I have never met a baby or toddler that will say, "Hey mom, I'm kinda tired, I'm going to bed now." It just doesn't happen. We have to provide plenty of opportunities for kids to sleep and then we have to protect that sleep. Well rested kids are happy and healthy kids, period. Bottom line, your baby needs A LOT more sleep than he/she is getting but you can fix that really easily.

Your baby is doing fine. Each baby has it's own sleeping pattern.
You're lucky because you get to sleep at night. If the baby is not fussy during the day, well I wouldn't worry.

it never hurts to mention any questions to your pediatrician.
but i would say that if baby isn't showing signs of WANTING to nap during the day and not being able to, it's okay. i have a 3.5month old who sleeps from 7pm-7am and takes 30min cat naps a few times a day. every baby is different, don't worry. :-)

My daughter slept from 8pm to 7am. Then she only slept for 10 minutes a couple times a day.
It was nice to have a full night sleep, but sometimes it would have been nice to have a daytime break too, which came as she started growing she needed to eat more, so I put her to bed later she still woke up at 7am ate and went back to bed around 10am slept a couple more hours. I alot of new moms from my class wish their babies would have slept all night.

the problem is your worry about normal behavior . children like adults are individuals they all have different sleep patterns, eating patterns ,potty patterns as your child grows you will learn these patterns for your child then you will be able to tell if something is out of place ...for now just trust your child if he appears healthy and acts happy he probably is.

I wouldn't say that's "normal"....but what I wouldn't have given for a kid to sleep through the night at that age.
