I want to take 30 packets of cigareetes from india to china as a gift for some one in china - can any one tell me how many cigarretes can you carry with you in baggage - I have 3 years chinese visa permit of china . Please help .

As far as I know the Customs Office at your local airport WILL be able to tell you. Many travel agencies can also answer this question. However, in my experience you can't have more than a full carton in your baggage and one pack on your person (or in your carry-on).

400 cigarettes for staying less than 6 months;
600 cigarettes for staying more than 6 months
4 cartons of tobacco products

China has cheaper cigs than the states and they get there tobacco mostly from here. Also like many thing they have copied our mix formulations very well.

Why take anymore than you can smoke till you get there.
You can buy your favorite brand via black market on thieves alley and save tons of money too.
