He's attracted to you, obviously.
Or he never talks to girls other than you so he feels weird and doesn't know what to say and how to react to things.

I feel qualified answering this as I'm shy as well.
I'm not intimidated by looks, as I look good. I have a Masters degree and make great $$ through work and real estate. I have a bunch of friends . . . what intimidates me is an outgoing personality. It's exactly what I'm not, at least not initially. Around my friends and the woman I'm dating I can be myself, which is a little wild, fun, etc. However, a woman who can be that way with people she just meets is intimidating to me. I LOVE it but I always think that there is NO way that a woman like that would be attracted to a person like me, shy, quieter, laid back, etc.
It's a weird conundrum to be in . . .
I hope that offers a little insight into a shy-guy's take on things!

Think about it your friend is shy, so therefore most things will be intimidating to him.
I think you might need to be sensitive around his shyness, for instance you should know when he feels uncomfortable talking about certain things so try and warm them into the conversation rather then just asking straight out. You could also speak with him one-to-one and try and find a why to resolve his shyness
As regards to being attracted to you he might be he might not be. Is he only shy when he is around you, or is he shy in certain situations or with other people also.
If he is just shy when around you then maybe he does like you, but i would not go saying to him up front lets be friends or diving on him and kissing the face off him if you do or do not like him.
Maybe that another question you need to ask how do i get the shy guy?

A very shy guy would be intimidated by how outgoing you are. If you're a person like myself, I am very open, I will say any and everything. I can be loud and sometimes obnoxious, I'm blunt, to the point, but always honest. That does seem to intimidate many men, but they usually start to warm up and like my outgoing personality. I suggest just be yourself, if you like him, do sweet little things for him, something not very showy, but sweet, so he knows you aren't intimidating.

what intimidates a shy guy? same thing that intimidates a shy girl.
Are you more educated than he is, are you loud, or aggressive, or have a lot of friends around you a lot, etc.

Sometimes a very confident or overbearing woman can intimidate a shy guy.

Of course he likes you! There's no other way, i don't think. Go 4 it if you like him too! Let him know so he won't be so intimidated.

come right out and ask him why he is so shy in the sweetest way. I asked two shy guys that before and they told me because of their up bringing or nervous of being unaccepted.be gentle and you can do cool things to bring him out of his shell, make him laugh.give him encouragement.and ask him about his dating experience in the past. be nosy if he's your friend he'll answer.

Probably that he's attracted to you, but even if he isn't and you are (very) good looking he might think something like "She's way out of my league, what am i doing here talking/whatever with her", other then that can't really say.
