My boyfriend is in the Navy and we have pretty much had our relationship while being separated. It works if you work at it. Make time to call each other and talk about what is going on in your life. Send a card for no reason at all just to say I love you. I send at least a card a week and definitely one if something is going on in his life and I know he needs a pick me up. Like the day that he had boards and I made sure to send it so that he got a good luck card so that he would get it the day of(his mail comes in the morning) so it got it right before. Use free airline miles and go visit if you can. I got lucky and my man got stationed a state away so now we can just drive. All of my friends cashed in their Southwest miles to buy me a plane ticket to go see him once. If you know that it was meant to last then make it work. Don't kill yourself wondering if he is cheating. Be honest and upfront. And at the end of the day even if you are left broken hearted you can say that you did your best and gave it all you had.

no. but if it's only for 13 months and you have a strong relationship and keep the communication lines open, you'll be fine. and being able to keep relations with the opposite sex null and void. the last thing a woman wants to hear is that you are spending time with jane and sue. and a man does not want to hear that joe came over to fix you car. be smart. keep in mind how those situations would make you feel.

Yes, long distance relationships do work. My good friend loved this guy who was in the Navy in Japan but they still made it work and they got engaged and then he went back over to Japan for a year and he came back and now they're happily married.
Best of luck.

if your partner loves you, then, he would come back to you. that's it. eventhough you communicate w/ each other, it doesn't mean that much. he/she has to be a responsible partner

My boyfriend is incarcarated so I have no choice. I think it does work, if you know what you want and what it is worth.
