can a female dog become pregnant before she goes into heat/period.

No she can't, however there are occassional dogs who are in heat but show no signs of being so. This is not common but does happen.

They hve to go into heat to get preganant.
You would know if the dog had been in heat.
They are in heat for three weeks and they bleed and have discharge.

But it is quite possable for a dog to have been in heat without their owner ever knowing it.
Some dogs just don't show much

No, only when she's in heat there's no ovulation before that so she can get ****** out of her mind :) she won't get pregnant
