Too general a question. I prefer a Pomeranian for a lap dog, a Rottweiler for personal protection, a St Bernard is most suited for a handicapped child's companion, Beagles for hunting small game and a Chihuahua is noted for aiding asthma sufferers.

I currently have a Pomeranian and a mutt of unknown origin. I am planning to get a rottweiler/bull mastif mix in the coming year.

A German Shepherd hands down. They are a very versatile breed and make a great (interactive) member of a family. I have two intact males (they are involved in dog sport and are from very good pedigrees) that are amazing around my daughter!

The Japanese Akita Inu,

Simply put the perfect dog. He is strong, courageous, clean, quiet, loving, affectionate, fearless.

The Akita is a guard dog. He hardly ever barks. He is easy to house break. He can be left alone for long periods of time and wont annoy the neighbors. He is great around your children. He is fearless and will defend you and your home to his death. He is loving and affectionate. He looks stunning........mine looks like a bear or lion. He is smart and has a very noble prescience.

Akita..........Akita...............Akita
