Decide who you are living your life for. I'm 26 and can tell you I felt this way through the majority of my time in college. Then I realized that I was going to school to make my parents happy. I was working to pay for school. I hated everything about the town I lived in and felt incredibly isolated and alone. I finished school just to say I did, got a different job that I actually enjoyed, but didn't pick one that I thought I would make a career -- I just wanted something I would enjoy for a bit -- I didn't care how much prestige or glamor came with it as long as I liked it and could pay my bills. I started having more confidence in myself and began going on adventures on my own within the city. I started being super friendly and enjoying the randominity that is life. I also got a pair of kittens to help ease the quiet that was my apartment. I started writing. I started exercising (admittedly, a much hated past time, but one that made me feel markedly better). I started reading more. I did the church thing. I read everything I could.
Basically, start by stimulating your mind -- figure out what honestly, truly will make you happier, and if you can't pinpoint something, that's okay. Know that that's okay! Just start treating life like a sampler plate and taste anything you can until something is satisfying. Know that life at 24 is just beginning, and you don't have to be set in your MBA or your job or anything. Feel the freedom!!

You have probably been slogging away for too long without any relaxation or fun. This kind of feeling is generally the prelude to a real breakthrough, when you will recognise some aspects of your life are just time wasters or time fillers, this might even be people who drain you when you are in their company. I am sure that once you start your MBA you will begin to see things in a more positive light. A good book to read is The Road Less Travelled or if it is still in print The Watcher on the Hills. Some deeper part of your self is pushing you to find out what you need to do.

What you are feeling is not unusual, many of us have felt like this at one time or another.
It is your minds way of telling you "I am not happy and fulfulled at the moment and need to change"
So you need to have a think - is it your job that you're not happy with
Is it the MBA thats not right for you
Do you need new friends
Do you need new hobbies?
Are you just scared about the MBA?
I gather that MBAs are really expensive so you need to be pretty sure about it before you start.
However before you start beating yourself up about stuff - you don't need a life plan, you are only 24.
You need to be gathering experiences and skills to find out what you like and what you want to do.
You are so young that you can easily do anything you set your heart to.
Volunteer somewhere - contact your local volounteer Bureau - often your council has one that will list placements in your area.
You could try something you've never done before and gain new skills and make new friends.
You could save money to go travelling or maybe volunteer.
You could retrain as something else.
You could move house.
There are lots of little things you can do to change your life and do something new.
Start with a little step.
Talk to your friends and family about how you are feeling, see if they have any suggestions.
Don't worry we all feel like this sometimes and it does get lots lots better.
Good luck

When I was 24 I too had no direction. I wanted one, but it never seemed to materialise. Then at about 30 - 35 I finally got a job I liked so I worked and studied hard in it and now I own the company. I was lucky to get the job in the first place so I wasn't going to do what I'd done in other employments and waste opportunities.
Be patient, direction will come sooner or later.

Spend some time alone and think about what it is that you really want. Make a plan of action to accomplish those goals. Cut back on your hours at work if you need to, or save up some money and quit. If you need to delay the MBA, do so. Do whatever it takes to get some time to regroup your thoughts. Since you want freedom, and you are not finding it with your current situation, consider changing your career to one that gives you some.

I think alot of people feel like they have no direction in life, I'm 24 and in a similiar situation except I will be attending my MBA fulltime and I am a male. Whenever, you feel down just remember that your twenties are very hard years. Also, you should be proud that you haven't settled it shows that you really want to make something of yourself. Also, stop being so hard on yourself.
Good Luck and Cheer Up. :)

If you are working on a MBA, I would say you have good direction in life. It sounds like you are not happy in your field of endeavor. What else would you like to be doing? A different career?? It is not too late to change your career. Most people do it at least three times in their lifetime. Get some career counseling. I wish you the best.

Oh girl, pray a lot, cry some, then laugh at yourself. Go get drunk !! you will feel better tomorrow!!! Or, go to the animal shelter and adopt a kitty. They are the most amazing creatures to help get you over lonliness and put your mind on something alive that loves you no matter what. They can comfort you on your worst days. They don't take a lot of care, plenty of dry food, water, a clean litter box and a few little toys and they are happy.

An MBA?....maybe try rejecting the corporate world and looking into the arts and perhaps a different culture....North American Culture is dissolving your soul...you, like most of us, need to escape....other than that you could always go to the doctor and get some anti-depressants so you wont think about it and so youll still be a productive citizen who goes to her cubical everyday and converts her energy, creativity and labour into wealth for someone else
