6th form in the u.k. means which grade in the u.s?

dont listen to the previous answer - i've just started sixth form! i don't know what it is but i can describe....it's when you're 16 (going to be 17 in the academic year) and we start something called a-levels which we need to get into university and it lasts for 2 years....some people go to a college just to do 6th form but most high schools offer a 6th form that we can stay on in too. freshman perhaps?
