ive done the so called 5 R's,reset re load ect,and it started working.for all of a day,then it went back to showing the apple and the exclaimation file again.does anyone have a suggestion(no throw it in the bin or silly ones please!) youd be a life saver if it would work again

ive already updated the software,and it worked for best part of a day.it wont connect to the computer properly,it keeps connecting then making a "diconnected" sound.it wont go into disk mode either

well ive worked out its a hard disk problem,cos it keeps turning on by itself.thanks 4 yr help,1st person gets the points as they were right -in the shop it goes!

The exact same thing happened to me last night. I checked around online and everyone says you have to take it in to get fixed. Apparently Best Buy will do it cheaper than Apple. That's what I'm doing today. Best of luck to you.

Right, this happened to me when I first bought my ipod and you need to go onto the apple webiste look in the FAQ and it will tell you what to do, you need to download the latest ipod software and it will work again...but this will reset it to its factory settings so you will lose all your songs...I hope I helped.

goto apple.com.. check your model, and download the latest upgrade... you install it, then use the mains power adaptor to finish it off.. you wont lose any files at all... also when you next connect it to pc, goto "my computer" right click ipod picture and virus scan the ipod.. you may have a virus on it.....
