Calculate when something needs to be done, and do it through the correct measures. Someone being unnecessarily rude to you at work? Turning the other cheek will leave you hating your work life, but you can't exactly 'go upside their face' either. So go to your manager and have disciplinary action taken. Some kid yells at you in the street, not much point doing anything about it, and it certainly wouldn't help to smack them. So you've just got to decide when something needs to be done, and what that should be.

With an eye for an eye, we do not all go blind. That is a lie that has been forwarded and is stupid.

If you take my eye out unjustly, I can take your eye in return. Now how could it possibly go any further and still be just? It can't. Only I can take your eye. I can't take your friends eye or your families eye. Just yours. It ends there.

If I do not take anyones eye without just cause, how could they be justified in taking mine? They can't.

I say, "eye for an eye.'

They can only retaliate if they can SEE you.

Better yet, go on the offensive. Strike first, so they can't hit the first shot.

I say, "your eye, not my eye."

Who wants an "a ss raping?"

Don't accept life in terms of absolutes. Be flexible to each situation.
