As I surf around through some of these questions, I notice a lot of persecution. I am a christian and I know I am going to be persecuted against. Sometimes I just don't understand why athiest and agnostic and people of other beliefs give christians such a hard time.
I know there are a lot of scary christians out there, and I hate it. I'm not one of those. I love and accept everyone for how they are. I'm sorry to everyone that has met or had to deal with a crazy christian.
But my main question is: why do we persecute others when we do not wish to be persecuted against.
Thank you for your time!

Please do not judge me like that. I have several friends that are gay... many I consider my family members. I love them and support their rights. Thank you

The people who persecute others be it homosexual or Christian, or anything else do it because they have a lack of self esteem. If someone really is secure in themselves and their beliefs then then why would they feel threatened by anyone else's beliefs? Bush kills 4 obviously never has encountered a true christian. Crazy Christian as you described it are not Christian at all as far as I'm concerned, because if you read the Bible and the teachings of Christ you wouldn't run off at the mouth, and treat people that way. Everyone should respect each other and discuss their beliefs and why they feel the way they do. Only then can people understand each other. I believe in the salvation of Christ, but how can anyone else come to believe if the example I show is hated and violence towards someone else just because they believe differently?

I think only small part of the # of people on here go nuts on each other. The ones that do, however, draw major attention to themselves because of their extreme ignorance.
I'm an atheist, I ask and answer here because I do value other peoples' opinions. If you are religious - great! Live and let live.
BTW, I've been slammed here many times - always by christians - it just seems that people involved with other religions are much more open to other peoples' ideas.

I think only a small percent of the people who post here are legitimately attacking each other. For most of us, and I'm an atheist who's posted quite a bit of anti-religious rhetoric, it's just a forum for bouncing ideas and voicing opinions. I think religion is dumb, and I try to convince people to not get involved in it, but I have a ton of friends and family who are Christian, Muslim, Hindu, et cetera, and I don't hate them or persecute them for it.

Ego, self image, hiding the fact that we have nothing useful to say, only something that will help ourselves feel a little better about our own unhappy and unsatisfied lives. Feeling right and righteous but not having rational words to explain and justify these feelings, we lash out in anger and irrationality like children calling each other names. This goes for almost all human beings everywhere in almost all situations.

Beats me I just got done reading a few statements that a fellow Satanists had made and now I think he might of put a bad rap on Satanism.
To be honest I have said stuff in the past but not directly at them!

Because we lust for pride if we cannot find meaning in our lives. However somethings that look like persecution aren't...we have to reveal each other's own strength, that's what art is about.

If you are a Christian, then you obviously hate gays. So don't tell me you love everyone.
