asalaamu alaykum, yaa ukhti may Allah bless you. Remain patient. The Sahaba faced such trials, victory lies with Allah. The people on here are mostly ignorant. They will insult you despite the fact that Mary wore a head scarf, and they say they respect Mary.

It makes many of us uncomfortable because extreme adherents of fascist Islam-ism are at war with the west. IF someone walked around wearing a shirt with a swastika or a hammer and sickle during states of war with Germany and Viet Nam they would have had adverse reactions as well. Your head scarf reminds us of dangerous adherents of your religion and the danger we are in post 9/11.

Just wear your pretty scarf and let them mind their own business. Don't act in shame and be elegant. Walk with your head high and they'll get used to it. Dont forget that Americans are the most ignorant people in the world.

Have you always been wearing a headscarf? I've noticed that since Islam has been in the news, Muslims are coming out of the closet.

In my culture it's a sign of oppression of women. European women wore head scarfs and coverings when they were chattel - when they held the same status as property, such as a chair or a horse. It is very offensive to women of European heritage to be reminded of this.

Have you ever heard of "when in Rome do as the Romans do"? In these times when there is a stigma attached to Islam, you cannot avoid negative reactions towards your appearance.

I don't see anything wrong w/ them because they are part of your religion, but I think others may have a problem because it's not part of american culture. Don't worry about it, just be yourself.
