I think you mean Shia and Sunni. They are all Muslims-all if the religion of Islam.
If I were converting to Islam, I would choose Sunni. BUT! Neither is really wrong-just different opinions, like the Roman Catholic Church and the Baptist Church are different.
I will admit tho, I feel they take the differences too seriously. They are all Muslims.

I don't like this thing that you have to be in a sect. We are Muslims and that is it. Follow the Quran and Sunnah and you will do fine. Don't need any title like shia, sunnie, hanfi, salafie, ect..... Did you ever hear the Prophet(peace be upon him) say he was anything besides a Muslim? No, so why should we have to identify our selfs with a group. If you want to follow the right sect then follow Islam the way the Prophet(peace be upon him) taught us to. Follow what Allah has sent down in the Quran, then you know you are in the right sect.

There is no right denomination. Islam is Islam, period. It is only because christians have so many divisions that they expect there to be such differences between sects in Islam. This aspect of sect brings about the segregation which is the root of all problems amongst the Muslim world. I myself am formally against the naming and differentiation of followers, regardless of their religion.

The muslims who follow the Quran, Sunnah with the correct understanding, which is the understanding of the Salaf. The Salaf are the companions of the Prophet sallahu alaihi wa salaam and those who followed/follow their way.

The right thing is just being a muslim.....
The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said that his Ummah will be divided into 73 sects......the one that follows the Islam which he and his companions are following (i.e. to follow the Quran and Sunnah) will be the ones who got to heaven.
so the right thing would be to call yourself a muslim.

I'm a Sunni Muslim.
At the end of the day we all believe in the Oneness of Allah SWT and that our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was his last and final messenger.
