I have had two c/s and I have been through 1 labor with out vaginal delivery. While I would say that if you can deliver vaginally then do it because the healing time is faster. I would much rather have a c/s then go through abother 21 hours of labor thats for sure. With a c/s you dont feel anything but when you are healing you can feel some pain and it takes about 3-4 days to heal. I was in the hospital the first tiem for 5 days and the second time for 3 days. But I stayed the first time because I liked being taken care of :). I am 8 week pg now and plan on another c/s. Don't listen to anyone unless they them selves has had a c/s. Both methods have there pros/cons. Good luck!

no it is not better. it does not hurt less. it hurts more in the recovery process. It is not as good for the baby because when you have the baby vaginally it helps to push the fluid that is in the baby's lungs out when you have a c-section you run a higher risk of having the baby in neonatal. You have to stay in the hospital longer and generally after the surgery the area that they cut will stay numb the rest of your life. Only have a c-section if it is an emergency and you have too. Don't let the doctors try and talk you into it because they do that to fit around there schedules so they can have more patients- get more money- at a disadvantage to you.

A c section is not better than a Vaginal birth unless you are having complications such as preclampsyia, fetal distress, etc. You are more open to infection, and the recovery time is a LOT longer. As far as the pain, I can tell you from having a C section and having been through labor, labor DOES hurt far more in the moment. However, after the process is done, the only thing you have to deal with is the soreness and healing of the vaginal tissues...which heal much better and faster than a Csection incision.

If you have a c-section it takes forever to heal. My friends baby is 18 months old and her scare still hurts. The nerves have to reconnect themselves. Also for about 6 weeks you can't pick up anything heavier than your baby. You will need to make sure some one is there to help you care for yourself and your baby.
If you have your baby naturally, get an epidural. If your doctor has to cut you it takes about 3 weeks to heal and you might feel the scare for at least a year, but you are healed. Also you can act like yourself a few days later and you don't have to do anything special.
I say go naturally, it is easier in the long run.

A c section is an operation. You want to avoid all unnecessary operations and no they do not hurt less, or so I am told. they take longer to heal that I do know. I deleverd naturally and was only in the hospital 2 days. the woman in the bed next to me had a c section and had already been in the hospital almost one full week i asked her why so long she said it was a c section and they take longer to heal she was ready to leave though and get home to be with baby.

Unless there are complications, vaginal birth is better. A c-section is a major operation and it takes a long time to heal from. I was in pain for weeks after. From what I understand, a vaginal birth is much easier and less painful in the long run.

Well, I had 2 C-sections and it was OK I guess. I never had normal labor so C-section is the only thing I know! It does hurt after surgery though. And there are risks of serious complications since is a major surgical procedure.

elective c-sections are totally stupid. it is a surgery, and the scar can get infected, there can be side effects of anesthesia, clotting problems, etc. Further more, it takes longer to heal, you cannot go back to daily activities right away and you cannot start working out right away.
they should be used only if there is a major medical problem

C-section: better for the baby, more dangerous for the mom.
Nowadays C-sections are very safe, but they are still riskier than vaginal birth. It's surgery, and there are more risks for infections, blood clots, etc. Recovery time is longer. I never had a vaginal birth, so I can't tell you if C-sections hurt less. They give you good pain medicine, anyway!
