I don't think that, in the West, many people are able to distinguish between the two theories - They don't know Islam, and their only view of Muslims is what they see on the news or read in the paper.
Pity, really - ignorance and fear due to lack of knowledge. This is convenient for many people also, as it does not require them to ask the hard questions, like "why do I hate?"
Sadly, a question like the one you posed will bring responses from a section of the west (please - feel sorry for them - they are poor, ignorant little sheep) which are less than tolerant. I particularly like it when they claim that everyone who follows Islam wants the world to be muslim or die.
Any educated person would know that the masters of this were the Christians!! Examine the crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, the Jesuit Missionaries -talk about self-righteous.
Most of us are an amalgum of religious and cultural backgrounds, whether we want to believe and understand it or not. The world is a big place, and unless you are a Native American or Australian Aboriginal, chances are your ancestors have co-mingled!
Myself - I am a christian with jewish and palestinian in there somewhere, as far as I know anyway!

There is never a real reason for hate, just some attempts at justification. The reason people hate anything is simply because they let the poison of repulsion take hold in their mind.
Concerning the supplementary part of your question ("how many people do you believe hate Islam?"): there is no way of knowing. You can't know what is in anyone's mind with certainty. you can only assess their actions.
You can't stop people from hating but I'm with you all the way on stopping people from acting out their hate and in encouraging them not to hate.
I would ask you a question also. You seem to make a great distinction between Muslims and Islam, but is it possible for one to exist without the other? I'm interested in your view on this. Maybe post a reply as a supplementary comment or message me.

Hi...I think the only reason a lot of people hate Islam is because they believe all the shozzle they see and hear on t.v. I for one do not hate Islam...I treat everyone as equal, it's so much better that way!! And also some ppl hate because whenever there's a nother controversy...they always look to blame the *Islamic* terrorists!! There are always those pinheads who like to give things bad names!!
Take care!!

What i will assert is that Muslims and Christians technically don't think interior an identical God. Muslims have faith that God has no son, and that God is the only and purely. Muslims do have faith in Jesus, yet very otherwise than Christians do (particularly interior the undeniable fact that he isn't any longer God's son and he did no longer die on the circulate). So, in case you like my opinion, i do no longer have faith those 2 communities worship an identical God. i will't make any comments approximately Jews, with the aid of fact i'm no longer knowledgeable sufficient approximately Judaism. i comprehend that Christianity, Islam, and Judaism in spite of the fact that all teach the magnitude of affection and appreciate, and it rather is unhappy that the international is comprehensive of loads of hate extremely.

hey im a christian and wouldnt say i hate islam, some of it has simularities, in the back of my mind some of the beliefs are questionable like what it thinks of other religions and also woman. yeh your right people are people and should be regarded as this in any faith. the only reason why i could possibly think some hate is because of what the media says, and also suicide bombing against, and also the way things change under muslim law compared to western laws. i believe its a people problem mainly not religion problem, but ofcourse theres always people out there who hate each others religions, just like some probably hate mine, hope this helps.

I do not HATE Islam, I just dislike it intensely. Why? Because I took the time to find out more about it. The link below is ALL from authorised sources, the Koran, Haddiths, etc. The quotes show WHY I am not going to be tolerant of any further pro-Islamic thoughts or actions within my country (Scotland):
http://www.faithfreedom.org/Articles/quran_teaches.htm
As I said, all quotes are from the Holy books of Islam. The author of that site offers $50,000 if proved wrong.

Hate is a strong word and most of don't give a fig what god you worship. Live and let live. The Christians became big because when Nero was burning them as torches because he framed them for burning Rome, they would not give up their religion. Their brave acts impressed the Romans and lead to the begin of the fall of Rome, and the taming of hatred. No one is attacking you guys and most of us are finding it all rather dull you trying to push your book at us. We still have many people worshipping different gods and living there life's as they see fit all over the world. Why on earth should one Religion rule. I like the fact we are all equal in the society we have and have the freedom to explore, why sign up for a new religion that does not give you freedom. Try to read more than one book and look back in history. Wise people do not use hatred. Happy reading.

Lack of understanding, this is not a problem facing only the followers of Islam. There are those of all religious backgrounds who have hatre of another faith. This occurs in ALL religions, what should be realised is that those who practice these religions in their truest form should not hate anything or anyone. It is a sad truth that paranoia and extremeism seems to be taking hold in some shape or form in many countries and the guise of religion is being used to shroud the true intent of these people.
Everyone should have the right to practice their own religion but should have the responsibility to allow others to follow theirs.

The same reason as Muslims hating Hindu Religion.
Nothing personal, but religion has to come from within ( it is nothing but a belief ) . Religion should not be enforced.

People call us the direct opposites of Islam......Hinduism. I am a Hindu and I respect the Religion Of Islam, cristianity and even atheism. Its peoples choice. I think it is a beautiful religion, however all religions have their good and bad points according to a persons view. If people do "hate" Islam its probably that they don't want to adopt it because it is strict. we should not care about other peoples views, we should use our own mind to choose our religion, and people should be able to live a free life if they follow Islam, Hinduism, Christianity and atheism
