Perms are comming back but NOT the super tight perms of the 80's. Big, loose flowiing curls are where it's at. The length of your hair will depend on the cost. At a reputible salon a perm should cost $65-120 (US). A typical perm lasts any where from 4-12 months. It depends on how long and thick your hair is and how often you get it cut. As for damaging your hair, don't panic. Redken, Matrix and Aveda all make perms that are very gentle. Make an appointment at a good salon for a counseltation with a senior stylist and it shouldn't cost a dime for the cousult.

stick with the curling iron. there are alot of precautions when thinking about getting a perm. 1) Cost- depends on how long your hair is and the thickness 2) Is your hair coarse, fine, medium. some perms might not take on either one or could damage it too much 3) It is 2006 mostly older women get the perms still. 4) Perms can last a while but when your hair grows out then you will have to go back and have it updated just like a color job. Perms do some damage to the hair like cause breakage and also depends on if you color your hair that is alot of chemicals on your hair. It also depends if the stylist chooses the right perm box for your hair type. Reason being there are different perms for the different types of hair. Some perms are more stronger than others. Then if it is left on too long your hair can fry and if not left on long enough you could end up with some straight pieces and some curly and that just would not look right.

A perm can be very expensive depending on where you go to get it.

In my Junior year of high school I got a perm in my hair, tons and tons of curls. I have very thick hair too! It was still there my Senior year of high school. I had a hard time taking care of it, I could not comb through it because of the curls. Just to comb it I had to keep my head under the water because it made it easier. Sometimes it would frizz, and I had to use all sorts of hair products just to get it to look good. Or put it up.

Finally, after trying so hard to get this perm out, I had to cut my hair. I went back to the place that had done it and they couldn't believe it was still in my hair. People actually thought I had natural curl. My hair is as straight as a pin!

Perms usually last 4 to 6 months. Shop around for costs. You can get perms as low as $25 on up to $60. I have found that the expensive perms are just as good as the cheaper ones.
I think perms are still in. My last perm last year was inspired by a movie actress I saw in a magazine.
You can still straighten a perm if you feel like it. Just use a straightener on it for the day. Perms are awesome because you can usually just wash and go.

There are loads of great styles out there and great perming techniques. However, ensure that your hair is in the best condition that it could be before you embark on a perm. Have a look at some of the websites for more information. Here's a really good forum , You can ask your question and you'l get fairly quick good advice from the best. www. hairboutique.com
Good luck.

That style of perm which you observed in television, may be a spiral perm: in the event that they began putting the wrappings from the neck section and that they rolled the rolls up precise place. And if it is going to final 8 weeks they used a shape perm, it purely skill that the perm stuff wasnt rather stable like regularly occurring perm has. utilising bigger delicate rolls or regularly occurring perm rolls you will get perm alot a like Jessica Simpson has. yet purely think of which you're able to do to get basically like her is do them each morning your self, maximum carefulest thank you to do them (have faith it or no longer ) is locate rolls which you would be able to twist from papertowels. Jessica Simpson doesnt have a perm in her hair, i think of they use a curling iron to do them. i'm hoping that replaced into answer on your question.

my g/f said the perm is coming back but very loose, big curls the price varies on which salon and if u want a spiral perm or acid perm if u have longer hair it will cost more, but i do not recommend a perm on short hair, on long can be very sexy,
