Skanked! You should have got yourself to Battersea Dogs' kennels, or somewhere like it, with documentation!

Hi it seems like you have been scammed, if you take your dog to the vet he will tell you whever it is a cross or not. If it is a cross then you have been charged way to much and even for a rottie thats expensive. But in the long run the way i see it id its a brilliant dog then its worth all the money you will pay for it. 3 years ago i paid 150 quid for my labrdour cross with a sheepdog and that was expensive enough coz we paid the same amount for our pedigree labrdour. But i wouldnt say he wasnt worth the money. i just shouldnt of paid that much for him, and you shouldnt of really paid £500 quid. But we all make mistakes learn from them, i bet you wont be doing that again.

£500 is not unusual for a pure breed especially a rotti, but to later find it is a cross, and have to guess what cross it is... boy i would be mad, but personally for £500 i would have wanted some papers did you get any, if you did and they falsley state it is a pure breed then you have a case for the small claims court, But be sure to get a proffesional to give a second opinion on whether it is a cross or just an off looking dog - parden the phrase but some pure breeds just have a different look about them.
hope all goes well.

Have you got a copy of the pedigree? If so that will tell you if your dog is pure rottie or whether he is mixed. £500 nowadays for a pedigree dog is nothing but if it turns out he is a mixed breed I would go back to the people you bought him off and demand some kind of refund. Threaten to expose them to the Kennel Club. They have to be registered with the Kennel Club to be able to breed legally. Good luck

If you paid £500 for a puppy and weren't even given a guarantee as to its breed then yes, you've been ripped off. The person who sold the dog to you is no doubt laughing at you behind your back.

It goes without saying that you should do more research before getting another pet.

BUT...looking at it another way, you lost £500 but gained a great friend. My dog only cost me £60 but he's priceless, I wouldn't sell him for all the money in the world.

Bear in mind also that even if you'd got a Kennel Club Certificate guaranteeing that she WAS a purebred rottweiler, that's no guarantee of quality breeding.

When buying a pedigree dog, you should always ask to see the registration papers along with seeing both parents.

It's a bit late now to go back & say you don't think she is 100% pedigree (unless the sellers live locally). Did they give you a receipt which states that she is fully pedigree? If so, you might be in a position to take them to the small claims court if you are sure she's cross bred.

Good luck :-)

Any papers with it? I'd contact them and ask for a refund. Maybe get a lawyer involved. My mother in law bought a labradoodle, was supposed to only get 20 pounds, dang thing ended up over 50 pounds. She contacted the breeder, and threatened with a lawsuit, got a partial refund. It's basically fraud if they advertised as a rottie and it's not.

there is a loghaired ressesive in Rotties. So if the only thing that makes you think Collie is hair it could be that she is pure.
Kinda hard to say any more without knowing the situation /seeing dog
