Try John Frieda Thickening Lotion. Backcombing roots slightly(not as in Nikki from BB) will also make hair appear thicker and give a bit of volume, use hairspray!

Matrix makes a root lifter that works great. Also try a volumizing mousse and dry your hair upside down if possible. Having the right cut helps. Make an appointment at a GOOD salon and have a consultation with a senior stylist. It shouldn't cost you a dime for a consultation.

Apply mouse to your roots and blow dry your hair upside down. Hang your head over and blowdry. Your roots will be forced to dry the opposite way, giving your hair a fuller thicker look. As my hair is almost dry, slightly damp, I like to spray Aussie styling spray on my hair and continue blow drying. This keeps my hair from looking frizzy and gives extra fullness.
Use Mane and Tail shampoo. It makes your hair stronger.

These three shampoos work really well:
Umberto - thickening shampoo and thickening spray
Matrix BodyDouble shampoo
Nexus Diamatress shampoo
Unfortunately, I haven't found any non-salon shampoos that make any difference at all. And I've tried everything! In particular, the new one Sunsilk made my hair more limp and flat than ever.

Highlights will give the impression of thickness, as will a really cut haricut. Volumising shampoos and conditioners will help. You can also get a very soft root perm to give more volume at the roots. Go to a good hairdresser and get advice.

Dove volumizing shampoo and condition works wonders.
There are also thickening sprays you put on the roots of your dry hair - Aveda makes a good one. Spray, flip head over and blow dry at the roots, and then use your FINGERS to comb your hair (no brush or comb)

Thickening shampoos are really good. I've got fine hair, but lots of it - and I really noticed a difference. John Frieda is the best, imo.
