Cellphones go anywhere and people often don't seem to realise when it is inappropriate to use them. I have had the same thing at a cinema, and at live theatre performances. In fact at the live theatre performances they were not only texting themselves about how the performance was going, they were taking photographs and sending those too.
In the same way we have kinds of 'etiquette' about other things, we need a new generally understood code of behaviour about when and where to use cellphones. I really think we can wait two hours for a cinema movie to finish before we need text or check for messages.

I don't really understand why people can't wait 2-3 hours before checking messages or talking on the phone. I mean it's not like you can do anything while you are in the theater anyway. If you are really concerned with an emergency, which I think is BS, put your phone on vibrate. If someone calls and it's an "emergency" then leave. If you are just doing it because you are bored then why not leave?
Nobody wants to hear your conversation or ring of the day when they are watching a movie.

I hardly think that the light generated from a cellphone could "blast" your eyes. It's a little distracting, but at least they're just checking for messages and not chatting on them. Most theaters will tell you to turn them off, but I like to be able to communicate with my sons and I usually hold the phone down low out of the other peoples' line of sight.

I savour doing the two. yet as quickly as I spend money to be certain a action picture in a theatre, it had extra effective be a competent one, or this is a waste of money and time. I do savour the ease of seeing a dvd at living house and being waiting to take a seat down back on an identical time as I watch a action picture. I nonetheless watch video clips on the VCR because of the fact I actual have some good ones. If i do unlike what's on a dvd, i will continuously take it out. The final action picture I observed in a theatre grew to become into "Beowulf". the only till now that grew to become into "Elizabeth- the Golden Age" It grew to become into spectacular.

This is such an annoying experience and I agree with another answer....why can't people wait 2 hours to resume communication with the outside world? Cell phones haven't been around forever and before we had them,we just relied on the theater management to make an effort to find us in case of emergency. There was a time when ushers would make their rounds to help prevent annoying, rude or inconsiderate behavior and I wish this would make a comeback!

I go a theatre with stadium seats and that does not bother me. Answering the phone and taking a call does bother me because that's rude. I have corporate email and have to deal with issues in my store whether I am at work or not, so maybe that's why it does not bother me.

yes I have ,these people that do this and other rude things show how they were raised no consideration for others at all, I have no objection if cell phones as they are good for emergency use but they can check their calls in silences if they have to!!!!
