Are you speaking of a learning disability?
Don't worry about anyone else. You are just perfect the way you are! A dear friend of mine had a facial deformity. He used to say "Those that mind don't matter and those that matter don't mind" That has helped me in my life. I hope that will help you to!
God bless and be proud of who you are!

Sorry that people tease you Andra. They tease you because they are ignorant, like amilucky0707. Having a disability is not the same as being retarded. Many people, in fact most, have some sort of cognitive block. Nobody can excel in nor understand all things. The mind is very complex. You can feel comfort in the fact that some of the worlds most accomplished mental geniuses, artists, and composers had learning disabilities. The most often used example is that of Albert Einstein. He failed high school mathematics.

Teasing another is a sign of insecurity, it means the person doing the teasing has issues with self that can only be satisfied by feeling superior to another, and therefore the disrespect you feel in their encounter with you. There is no one perfect way to think or be, You are as you were created nothing less nothing more. It could also be noted that many persons with supposed high intellect are extremely unintelligent in other forms of intelligence. many institutes of higher learning condition people to think in a particular way and find the training to be useful when applied to specific problems, what i mean by this is, that persons can be trained to be very myopic to certain issues or situations and therefore purposely retarded to a specific mind state that can be made useful. I would like to say that desiring respect or acceptance from the types of individuals you have mentioned is not the most healthy of impulses, when you find that you admire yourself you will notice that the pain others are capable of inflicting is diminished.

Who on earth ever told you that you are mentally disabled? Just because you think in a slightly different way to some of us doesn't make you any less able than us!
Listen lovey. I have an IQ I am proud of, but let me try to do anything with my hands ( stop laughing people I know what you are thinking!) and I am the biggest dumb clutz in the world.
Maybe expressing what you know is your handicap, but just look around and you will see everyone else had handicaps as well.
Those who see fit to tease you have a major handicap because they cannot see the world clearly or you for the wonderful person you are.
I know it is easy for us all to tell you ignore them. And I know that it isn't always possible. When they say something mean, just give a little secret sort of a smile to yourself.
It will absolutely kill them!!!
When they ask you, as they will and probably not in a nice way, what you are smiling at, say " I see dead people. Their hearts and souls are dead but they are still walking and I am sooo glad I am not one of them"
Then just ignore them from that point on.
'coz that is what they are, dead stupid!!!!

Mental disablity comes in so many forms and levels, and it doesnt mean retardation, that would mean a really low IQ score(and you probably wouldnt be going to a regular school) and many tests are administered by a Doctor/school special needs services who would determine what your needs really are. Find out more about yourself and what your needs really are so you have the confidence to stand up to the teasing, because the unfortunate fact is kids are cruel and will continue to tease....good luck

HI honey...I am so sorry you are being hurt by other people. I was teased in school, too, for my red hair and freckles. I know what it is like. It is very demeaning and robs you of self esteem and confidence.
People who treat you badly because you take more time on tests or homework, they don't matter. Personally, I think that they learn to be cruel from listening to the way their parents talk about other people. Or they are just not comfortable with themselves, so they have to pick on someone else.
School is a hard place to grow up in, with so many ignorant, rude and cruel kids there.
What matters most is that you keep your chin up. Be proud of who you are, honey, and put a guard around your heart for the lewd comments that are made to you. Don't put walls up, cuz that can hurt. But, don't let their comments get inside you. I go to a class that tells us to use a term "teflon mind," when there is something that is bothering us and we cannot deal with it. Do you know how a teflon frying pan just rolls the food right off its smooth surface? It just lets it go, gets rid of it, and nothing sticks. You can develop a teflon mind, letting it go, and leaving it behind you. It is easy to say ignore these idiots, but if you use teflon mind, you are taking nothing inside and letting it go. The hardest part to do is not to judge yourself for the things they say to you. Just remember to use teflon mind, and let the comments slide right off, before they affect you.
I hope you feel better after all the comments that were given to you. It sounds like we all think you are very special. I know I do. I have two mental illnesses, but that does not keep me from being loved by my friends and family. And, if someone does not understand, like my brother in law, it is not my problem, it is him and his ignorance.
Take care honey...

This is typical from immature people or children. From a certain point of view this action by them is retarded or slow. Many people don't yet know how to act. Just because someone is slow at processing doesn't mean they're stupid. I have heard that many brilliant people are absent minded and don't have common sense because they are usually; "Someplace else" I would say getting into psychology would be a better career for you someday.

I am sorry for the teasing. The people who tease lack empathy and kindness and likely have shallow pathetic lives. Pay no attention to them. I know it's easier said than done but people who make you feel bad don't deserve a second thought from you. They didn't even deserve the first thought. Take care!

anyone who teases people is a jerk.... but someone who teases someone because of a disability, that's just wrong... don't feel bad, just know that those people aren't gonna do very well in life and are gonna be working at McDonald's while your running a business.... just know that they're dumber than most people because they tease others.....if you want.. I'll come to where you live and teach them a lesson...lol
