I live in Dublin, Ireland and I have a two year old African Grey Parrot. He can talk in a number of languages and imitates alarms and phone tones. Is there any place in or near Dublin which would mind him while I am away on holidays?

I tried once to find a place to board our African Grey here in London. There is, apparently, one such place (we were referred to it by our pet shop where we buy parrot food) but it's inconvenient and in the end we got a house-sitter.

repetition is the best thing. Most of my birds learned to talk with the use of an endless tape recorder. While some never pick up speech I have had some that didn't for two years. My best talker (african grey) was a handfed baby who never spoke a word until he was 2 years old.

I have a 17 year old amazon, and I usually leave her with friends or family. I understand if your frinds won't take your bird in though. Birds are loud! The other woman is right. Here in the states, there are several bird boarding places. Do a google search.

Best bet would be someone coming over to feed him. Grey's can get stressed out by very small changes. I even read somewhere about a Grey getting stressed by a new toy being added to it's cage. If that's not an option, I'd recommend asking a vet nearby who they'd recommend.

I don't live in Dublin so I can't answer for a certain, but here in the states we can generally take our birds to a pet shop that specializes in birds and they will board them for a fee. Good luck.

The new thing here is Pet Sitter's . They will sit in your home or theirs. I would just make sure you check out their refrences really well!! Do a search in your phone Book.

i believe we should have shared holiday accomadation for all bird lovers.
you must have bird clubs in dublin if you cannot find any e-mail cage and avairy birds media they will help you.
