Religion is the worse and more fanatical force through history. I see it a some kind of dangerous metal decease. They, the religious ones are by far the biggies killers of all times. No other political, philosophical or economical force can match religion as a killing machine!

I don't know how many have been killed in the name of religion, many did, too many.
Many have died in the name of atheism or agnostics as well. Check out Russia in the early 1900.
You can't compare no religion with religion. One is doing it for something they be live and the other doesn't' believe in anything. so what is the point of doing anything in the quest to their better life if their end is going to be a fertilizer to earth, to be one with earth, and later incarnate into a tree. If you think of it, that makes you similar to Hindus.
Here is thought after their death, and they come back as a tree for example, that means they are alive again in another form! what happened to the tree when it too dies, will it come back again in a different form, maybe a human again, or animal, or what! is that the never ending circle of life! think about it those who don't believe in the life after! you do!
Christianity is not violent, but people are.
But since you asked 'such as Christianity?" that implies you are asking about other religions as well! therefore. Islam is more violent than Christianity, and those without religion are the least, because they have nothing to care about, so they don't do anything, or much.
Don't get offended that is my opinion. but if you do get offended, don't worry about it, it will not last for eternity, you don't have one.

The Crusades was a religious war.
The Iraq war was not. The Bush Administration used it as a cover-up for many different reasons. Oil, finishing up daddy's job, the works.
The terrorists are waging a jihad to protect their native land. So it depends on your virewpoint. They conduct the war in the name of Allah/Mohammed, but would have done so anyways without religion.
Religion can be a tool for government, but you're right, that religion causes unnessecary wars provided the holy text is interpreted in the right way.

they are two separate things. Religion and Chrisianity are not the same. Religion has killed many (false religions) where as christianity hasn't. Killing is condoned in war for self defense and for capital punishment.

Christianity is more violent. Religious fanatics always believe anything they do is OK, and sanctioned by God. Atheists might kill for money, but never over religion.

Religion sometimes is a form of brainwashing.. but I don't think it's the religion really. It boils down to intolerance .. intolerance of others' beliefs.
