My friend went through that with her eyebrows. She wanted them to be thick, but identical, so she'd keep plucking them to get them even and in the end she had hardly any eyebrows.

Just tell her to get a trim at a professional salon, then step away from the scissors for good! If she wants long hair she should focus on keeping it healthy instead.

She wants to emulate Madonna?

I don't know. Maybe she needs change in her life. How important is her hair to her? If it is extremely important to her, there may be more than meets the eye! Maybe she needs to talk to a hairdresser. They are not just good at cutting hair, but they are the hair specialist, and sometimes, there are specialists that really understand ramifications that derive from some attitudinal behaviors related to hair.

what's the problem? it's her hair, not yours right?

i'm the same way. i would love for my hair to be long, but i keep cutting it.

some people (including myself) cannot stand the transition phase. you know, when you're in that stage where you cant do anything with your hair because you're trying to grow it out. i'm in it right now, and trying to stay strong and not cut it. but i know exactly how your friend feels.

You make it seem like a midlife crisis.... Calm down.... Just tell her to stop... TRY and grow it out long. Challenge her to not cut her hair and see if she likes it long.

She's probably just searching for a great new look. If if gets to the point where she's pretty much bald, then talk to her about it! :)
